Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 15, 2017 2:29 pm So my builder contacted me today to say the Australian standards had changed re termite protection I have no idea about termites or what I should do these were my options Option 1) FRONT OF BUILDING ONLY $150 Where the builder is providing a front driveway/garage ramp and entrance pathway a Termguard Re-Treatment System will be required to be installed underneath the concreted areas. To ensure that none of these areas are missed, the Termgaurd system will be installed across the entire front of the building including any freestanding brick piers on concrete pads. If the piers are on the front porch slab (part of the house slab) then the re-treatment system around the slab edge will protect the pier. We will provide Re-treatment system to the front of the dwelling only in lieu of standard Part B treatment system. This system would require retreatment every 2 years to the front of the dwelling in the form of a chemical top up to the reticulated refill points and a retreatment of the remaining permitter every 12months in the form of a chemical hand spray to the permitter of your slab. Option 2) AROUND PERIMETER OF BUILDING – BUILDERS PREFERED CHOICE $680 Should you choose this option Simonds will provide a reticulated perimeter termite protection treatment in lieu of hand spray perimeter termite protection. This is our preferred system with a reticulated refillable termite supply around the entire perimeter of the home and will look the same as the picture below. This system only requires re-treatment every 2 years in the form of a chemical top up to the reticulated refill points Re: Termites please help 2Jul 15, 2017 2:41 pm The standard has not changed since 2014. The latest version was published on November 5th 2014. Re: Termites please help 3Jul 15, 2017 2:44 pm There has been a change to the Australian Standard 3600.1, which relates to the dwelling termite treatment required for new builds where a driveway is included as part of construction. This change applies to all dwellings which achieved a permit after 1/5/2017 or where your standard inclusions did not include this upgrade. this was at the start of my email Re: Termites please help 4Jul 16, 2017 12:23 am Hi The standards have changed, however, the standard written in 2014 has just been implemented May this year. To understand what the quote is saying, I think I need a little clarification. Is the home being renovated or is it a new build? If so, is the edge of the house slab being exposed around the whole perimeter? Cheers Juan Re: Termites please help 5Jul 16, 2017 5:02 pm Its new build there up to frame stage now on slab and have just told me I have to choose one of the 2 above options no idea if the slab will be exposed I believe so Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7072 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits.
