Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 81Dec 01, 2017 8:14 am Under construction since March and still not done?! That's ridiculous. Who's the builder? And yeah, all in all the end product is looking great, after I've told them to fix a whole heap though. If I didn't know what I was doing though it'd be a much different experience I think. I anticipate lock up will be at the end of this coming week now! Forgot to take some photos but heading back tomorrow so will get some more then. I agree. If you know a little about the process it certainly makes it easier. This is our third build and just from experience we have found the journey fairly smooth sailing. And of course, we know exactly what things should look like and can get the builder on to mistakes, poor work etc ASAP. Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 84Dec 05, 2017 8:11 pm Bricks have been cleaned, doors have been installed. A whole bunch of other items delivered. Should be a busy week for us! On another note, they've f**ked up our sliding door....again! Will be getting a nicely worded email tomorrow. Third time lucky, however I'm now left with holes that have been riveted and aren't the best finish. Really not happy with it, but I would imagine the only thing to rectify that would be to rip the entire frame out and start again Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 86Dec 07, 2017 6:20 am [quote="just_a_draftee"]Window company are going to replace my sliding door panels....again. If there’s multiple holes that will be a poor finish. If it’s their stuff up the should probably replace the frame as well? I imagine a new set of holes as this will be the 3rd place the handle has been, meaning another set of holes I would think :/ Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 88Dec 11, 2017 8:26 pm We visited the house on Sunday and the ceilings have now been painted as have the door frames. Already starting to get some cracks appear around the cornice though which isn't great. Also rocking up and seeing the front yard trashed was disheartening. A strongly worded email to the supervisor has resulted in a site clean up tomorrow. Cabinets are also due to go in on Wednesday, which is the main item we are keen to see! Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 90Dec 11, 2017 9:37 pm The sad thing is there a containment bin on site, just behind the toilet to the left. Door hadn't been fixed when we visited yesterday, but hoping it's done when we visit on Wednesday Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 91Dec 11, 2017 9:53 pm No excuse for the mess then. I had an issue with some tradies from the site next door leaving planks of wood with nails sticking out of them on my block. Never mind the fact my neighbours have kids. I wasn't very impressed at all. Fingers crossed for a fixed door on wednesday! Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 92Dec 11, 2017 10:03 pm Yeah, especially when our others builders sites are 10x cleaner on the same street. Not a good look on the company! Sliding door still not fixed though and shelving still sitting there waiting to be installed. It took about 6 working days in the end. It all depends on the size of the house and the team though. I would think yours should be done within 3-4 days though? I'm no expert in that area though Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 96Dec 13, 2017 8:37 pm Cabinets are almost finished, super happy with the colour unfortunately been advised that stone won't be done until the new year though Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 98Dec 13, 2017 10:07 pm Looking awesome! my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: First Timer (Built By Momu @ Calleya) 99Dec 17, 2017 7:08 pm Wet area floor tiling has started! Cabinets still not finished for some reason, but we ran into the installer on Saturday and he was on his own. Can only imagine that he needs someone else to help him with the larger units, so hopefully done this week. Also, sliding door is finally correct after 2 failed attempts.
