Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Your thoughts on Masterton Homes brickwork 5Jul 11, 2017 7:05 pm Take a look at this document. It shows what the fair trading inspector will be looking for. http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/biz_r ... rances.pdf Re: Your thoughts on Masterton Homes brickwork 7Jul 12, 2017 5:09 am That's horrible. My builder told me that they are flying in Brickie's from different countries in Asia and putting them up here because of the shortage of trades. Regardless of whether or not that's relevant here they should Know Australian standards. I would ask your supervisor whether he could hand on his heart say he would be happy with that. Point out the sections of the guide to standards and tolerances (Fair Trading website) that it doesn't comply with and I would put it all to him on writing. I almost guarantee he won't put it in writing that he thinks there's nothing wrong with the brick work. It's up to you whether you want to escalate it beyond your supervisor. I mean ordinarily I'd say keep it amicable for your own sake but if you're engaging Fair Trading anyway it might be good to make sure it's on his managers radar. If that's the standard of workmanship your supervisor is willing to accept maybe it's not such a bad thing to either let him know you mean business or is he happened to be let go C U S T O M. We built with Masterton almost 10 years ago and the brickwork was unbelievably perfect. I kept thanking the brickies for such awesome work, they just said they have pride in their workmanship and it showed! I'm so sorry to hear about your issues. Just keep persevering with the issue, but be polite. Speak to someone at Head office maybe ask for James? We have since built with another builder, and the brick layers were all really young and not quite like the brickies we had at Masterton who were middle age. Good luck! Re: Your thoughts on Masterton Homes brickwork 10Jul 14, 2017 7:38 pm Hi lostcourse You are better off getting a structural engineer and get him to battle it out first with the builders engineer. He will check the Structural Design & brickwork/mortar for strength, durability, compliance, etc,etc according to the Masonry Structure codes AS3700 etc If you go with the Building Inspector he will also need to engage an Engineer eventually on your behalf. Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 17012 I wanted to get some thoughts on the quality of workmanship on the following brickwork? are there specific clauses in Australian Standards which relate… 0 4796 |
