Getting all tearful 😢 leaving a season behind a house full of memories (7years renting this house) to go to our own! Almost time too say goodbye to this house! Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 723Feb 08, 2018 10:41 am Hugs. It is a big thing. Dh bought his house 9 years ago and is the home we lived together in for 7 years, brought our kids home etc. As much as I hate much about the house (small, dark, old) we will miss it and feel sad Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 724Feb 08, 2018 11:15 am its not easy to say goodbye to the memories of a house but just think of the new ones in your own place without the restrictions of it being a rental. My last house i moved out 10 years to the day from when i moved in Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 725Feb 08, 2018 5:19 pm Sadly still awaiting cornises and final layer if paint outside and on bits of cornises inside Plumbing supposed to start today - not started as yet Ss said cornises/paint finishes this week. Been waiting since 8/1 for cornises around joinery and since 24/1 for cornises at eaves... (just feels like poir planning atm ) Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 726Feb 08, 2018 5:31 pm Lineup still this week: Plumbing Final coat paint out side Corneses eaves/garage door/kitchen joiner and paint Guess trades/eork can be done at same time but nervous bout finsl painting with all the outside work going to happen next week. Pray cornises etc done tomorrow early am and paint straight after/Saturday! Gas?? Next week 12/2 flyscreens 13/2security doirs 14/14-2 floors Paving start 13/2-15/2? Pci after paving around 22/2?? Then a/c, garage door (said after painting) appliances, site vlean ?before h/o??? Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 727Feb 08, 2018 9:37 pm Don’t understand this our friends eaves in alfresco got completed today and the cornises was done immediately, paving gravel was laid and gas line was done! Yet we wait now 2 weeks for the darn cornises/skirtings that our paint can be completed! Ss said it will be completed this week so hoping tomorrow is gas/cornises/skirtings and paint and plumbing?! Early sm cornises while painting down pipes/render second coat. Then paint all cory/skirtings need paint then 2nd coat eaves and cornises. (Easy) all while plumbing is happening:) Cornises not mire than 30minutes of wirk, psin about 1-2 hour max left. Then the scotia to porch pole??? Mmmm Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 728Feb 09, 2018 6:37 am Don't get why yours had been so mismanaged Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 729Feb 09, 2018 9:47 am me neither! no idea what they are trying to do at all, we are still waiting for our gas connection, while others have allreade gotten theirs, but this is really getting ridiculous regarding the mismanagement! worst is when we ask for dates we are told no dates booked as such, mmm, supervisors dates given so far has also not matched up. then they keep saying ss is working hard with trades to finish our build asap.... if it was one instance of issues we can understand but the amount of things not done/ delayed for no reason/ not booked is crazy. like with the guy that did the scotia for eaves waited a week for him to complete eaves and do that after he only did job half, then he did not even do it properly and did not put it around the porch pole at all. one would also think to do the cornices so that painter can finish painting will be a priority... poor guy been waiting 10 days now for them to do it so he can finish up... after we were told 2 days prior to him starting it will be done tomorrow and ss telling him it will be done on the following day... the amount of issues is adding up with them not caring /managing properly all of this just comes down to managing of the build. especially looking at other builds with same construction consultant and same supervisor (no where near what we are going through). Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 730Feb 09, 2018 4:27 pm Update: Still no gas... Still no scotia around porch pole? Or do we get something else there? Do we get skirtings around bottom of kitchen cabinets or just scotia after flooring? But: got door handles and that thing under door to prevent bugs to come in house? (Just front door not seen on garage door) Finally got all the cornises so happy i can dance!!! Now our painting can be completed, (wonder if he will connect in tomorrow to finish painting cornises and 2nd coat on eaves and downpipes/meter boxes!? Bit worried about gas seems every one is getting it except us? Maybe heat delay and maybe monday then? Need asap for paving! Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 731Feb 09, 2018 4:29 pm This week has been so hot and even tomorrow will be 35. But yeah for getting the cornices in. Hope the other stuff starts finishing off too. And frustrating not to have gas yet Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 732Feb 09, 2018 4:33 pm Yes but at least progressing only behind on paint (should finished today) and plumber (but can be done with other work. Paint was big thing with all the outside work next week! Gas is a big one! But hopefully monday , might be heat why its not in yet? Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 733Feb 10, 2018 1:29 pm No work today. So left from this week for next? Finish inside cornices at kitchen/garage door/alfresco Finish eaves 2nd coAt paint Finish 2nd coat down pipes/meter boxes Base of front doir frame paint? Paint that was supposed to be done last week not finished. Gas was suuto be connected last week not finished Plumbing that was supposed to be last week not finished And flyscreens was supposed to be today not fone... This week for tomorrow security doors booked, floor planks Wednesday and pavers thursday.... But yet again in the same week in fact last Tuesday we were given dates by ss him self and sll ready they are behind again! They really do not care about our building at all! No ine is taking accountability or any responsibility einther! We are now at almost 21weeks of building. (Manager said 22) each week they keep on adding more weeks! I have never in my life seen such miss management at all! We have a couple if friends building and no ine has had this aweful experience we are having! Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 737Feb 12, 2018 3:18 pm Grrr. I can't believe that they haven't made your place a priority. Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 738Feb 12, 2018 3:23 pm Yes they simply dont care! The trades come and go as they please and no one follows them up and check if they keep to booked times and finish work. By the time our ss visit the site its 2 weeks later and a mess! I actually think our contract said he fors weekly visits which is simply not happening... but they do not care! The wors experience and customer service we have ever experienced Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 739Feb 12, 2018 9:44 pm So we emailed asking for an update and ehats going on with work not complete last week and the work that needs to be done before flooring/paving... no reply yet Also tried to call ss - and left a message. Upon driving past house again to see if all is still locked up and that no one came in last minute and left stuff open - we saw gate was open but now work done. Think ss might have done his round to report back tomorrow! But nervous cause we need paint complete for our floors, need gas line before paving and then plumbing etc Hope they get to paint and gas line tomorrow that other work can continue I have been fearing every time we get a report about build as every time 2 + weeks has been added to complete/pci time. Last tuesday it. Was said to be around 22 February. Praying it wont change! And the wirkers will complete and do work when they are booked They said 4-6 weeks after cabinets is completion. We are now week 5 after cabinets so lets hope they keep to that time line! Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 740Feb 13, 2018 3:58 pm Finally sime good news! We got site clean today (except excess soil from sw and pavers) We got gas line today (yay) Some digging out for pavers started (yay! But unfortunately we got told that we need to pay for soil removal from pavers and that company does not include it with their initial soil removal even after we arranged for it all to be done by them! And no one said we neede to pay it in cash extra! But at least things are coming to an end now!) Also ss said flyscreens/security doors will go in tomorrow, plus flooring this week and the paint final layer outside will be done/alfresco both layers /cornises kitchen and abovd garage door 2 layers. And plumbing will be done too! Feeling better with the gas in! So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point.
