Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 622Jan 12, 2018 5:48 pm Does your building agreement / contract state a timeframe for the build - probably documented under fifth schedule
all i can see online is a 18 week build time guarantee for eligible houses http://www.hickinbotham.com.au/terms/18 ... guarantee/ has a bunch of things that exclude the house from the 18 week build guarantee as well Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 623Jan 12, 2018 5:53 pm We had 14 week build but due to turn key add 4 weeks but they did not say anything about theft etc now they try to push it on by addythefts that did nog occur we hav enails that we got told paint will be a couple days after tilling (same week) now they move paint to end month for no fsulg ir readon of ours Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 625Jan 15, 2018 1:24 pm No surprise at all sat at house since 7am (was told earlier thd better so that we can get in while tiler is ther we just left 13:45 no show for tiler! They waisted our time and we arranged to measure our windows as is stippulated in our contract (since they are do quick to bring up the contracts!) hubby calling management today. Left message no call back as off yet. Cant complain how they manage the property since there is no managing of it at all! Our friends had huge thefts/breakins and a lot of damages they got told their h/o is mid February !! So how can that be that they can fix, catchup their stuff but not ours!
Cant see how this company can ever be or have been the best builder in SA! Simply the worst Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 630Jan 15, 2018 6:04 pm Wont really help at this stage all we can do is record all activities/emails etc and docoment our concerns in writing so when they do go over February we can claim compensation (and need keep proof that there was no extra thefts/damages so no extra days can be added) Hopefully the conversation of today with management will bring on some changes!and better communication and management of our house Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 631Jan 17, 2018 1:46 pm So tiling was supposed to start 15/1... still nothing yesterday and they also have not yet install bath / did waterproofing... Painting suposed to start 26/1(holiday) ao wont start till 29/1 but till then they need to finish cornises, skirtings, doors, rendering and eaves!(materials that was stolen from eaves still not replaced) Then its stormwater/paving/2nd fix plumbing/electrical/floors and finishing off thats lefts. All this uncertainty is so frustrating! Mostly worried about our date that we need to be out of the house! Hopefully house will be completed then and they will get to wirk and manage and plan properly fir the rest! Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 632Jan 17, 2018 4:37 pm I was hoping for you that they would prioritise your build to get you finished sooner. Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 634Jan 17, 2018 4:58 pm No idea how bath will be installed? Cause the area that thd bath will be has no gyprock?bath will be in corner against the wall (narrow end left) at the long end and right narrow end against the shower. Also vanity is against the bath on left side? Any one know why there is no gyprock where bath will be? Will it be bricked in? Or what will happen Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 635Jan 19, 2018 9:40 pm Was told bath install when they tile, tiles was booked 15/1 Still no tiling... Stressed out to think all that have to happen before painting on 26/1... Tiling finish Rendering (can be done while tiling) Eaves (can be done while tiling) Corniness/skirtings (can be dine while tiling) Some doors not on yet...(can be done while they tile) Byzy week next week? Hope the do and get it all finished dont want any mirr huckups-delays Then flooring after painting, final fix plumb/electrical, gas, stormwater, paving Apparently they say ss said h/o not until end February... hoping sooner cause we wont have a place to stay... Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 636Jan 19, 2018 9:44 pm I know you need it sooner, but they also need to do it right. Hope they can all work together during tiling Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 639Jan 20, 2018 6:11 am Its just stressful not givin specifics cause we not only have to try and get short term accomodation but need to do storage for furniture too! They want us to bookin a month in advance which we cant do cause we dont have specifics and a maybe don’t help at all... If they at least tell us between 19-23/02 or 26/2-3/3. That would lessen some stress and we can plan accordingly for accomodation and storage but we cant book anything with the uncertainty not to mention the extra cost now involved with needing storage and accommodation... when a week ago we had h/o for end January and 12 hours later end February We dont know when and this is frustrating cause we both start uni (online) 19 February and need internet. Worst part will be to try and move/settle in after uni started we have huge study loads If they just keep to booked dates then we wont have issues but again Our friends got told they are priorutised and have h/o 5 February (was told yesterday) but we cant be given the same treatment... If they were upfront from start then we could have arranged for extended lease but we cant after new tenant have been found Will be less stressful for us if we can properly plan and have more specifics but just getting the comments oh ‘ we don’t know what’s happening on site your ss is on leave and need to inform us of wirk done, there will be more progress next week’ doesnt help us But i guess cause no one has to deal with this nor have to try and get storage/short term accomodation and being thrown around so much within a 12 hour time frame and then cant plan no one will really understand what we are going through We do not have famiy or anyone we can just go and live with till build is completed even storage company wants specific dates for storing our stuff not to mention accomodation...but yes i guess if anyone was in our shoes they would understand! And then the consultant that kept on telling us we are on track and pushing for end January the whole time (which we made our plans around) and then after confirming 12 hours later said oh no its niw end February with no reason why ir any explanation... Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 640Jan 20, 2018 12:33 pm yes its the not knowing that is the killer cause of stress, Iunless someone has been in your shoes they dont truly understand, and it is made a lot worse by the extreme changes they make in handover dates and targets that throw out all your plans and send you back to square one with your organising. unknown duration short term accomodation and storage can get expensive which isnt helpful when your on a tioght build budget. esp if your so close and then it slips by just a little bit i tried to see if i could get nbn early connection process - nope they arent allowed on site to put a box on an external wall. re your tiling and bath have read someone that the waterproofing is supposed to be installed upto a week before they tile so it has time to cure, and the bath being a big and bulky item is something they would install the same time its delivered i expect - the waterproofing is the one thing you really want them to do right Hoping you have a very busy week on site this week and get some regular accurate updates and SS contact hopefully all your outdoor work is scheduled while they are painting inside. So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27713 hi guys.
