Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 181Sep 18, 2017 10:27 am Yes was thinking the same Did not think trenches would have this much soil so probably 1 truckload for the scraping? Not sure will need to wait till we get invoices to sign or something Hickies has not yet said anything about costs so far... Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 184Sep 21, 2017 8:37 pm Ok so got a "bill/notice" from Aglfor instalation of our electricity meter (we did not get informed of extea charges fir this) when we asked hickies we got this reply " In regards to any Utility or SA Power bills you receive, kindly pay the bills only. We will arrange for all the works to be completed. In your contract we have charged you only for underground works. These charges you will receive are at your own expense." Bit confused thiught they are doing the electricity in the house too? Contradictory to their email... Anyway also just found out SAPN will bill anither $317 for the meter. So all up round $ 540 in extra un told/disclosed charges Hope this info will help others starting the build process to be better orepared! How can they get away with nit disclosing things lije this / excatly what they do/dont do If i read electricity I expect them to cover it in our contract like with soil removal and not get told later oh yes we don't cover that bits... where was it discussed/disclosed that this wont be covered or included Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 185Sep 21, 2017 9:16 pm There's nothing like that in our contract either so I can expect this will happen with me aswell Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 187Sep 21, 2017 9:28 pm Tisay there was some wirk on our block , not too sure what Hubby said looked like something in trenches on garage boundary side? Might be nbn stuff? Stormwater stuff? Electricity?? Will see what happens tomorrow Hoping damp corse, reinforcements and dlab will follow soon (think its raining over weekend... so not sure when things will happen Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 188Sep 21, 2017 9:31 pm Wow that's terrible. I didn't have to pay for anything like that. Once my build was finished I arranged to get the gas and electricity changed to my name but during the build the builder handled all connection/installation fees and usage. I had to pay the water service charges, but I could have asked them to pay the usage part (I didn't because it was about $5 a quarter). All soil removal was also included for my build. I can't believe you have to pay for these things! The only costs I had was the council levy to build in the area and the NBN connection fee/levy. Neither were through the builder though. Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 189Sep 22, 2017 7:31 pm So they are still buzy in open trenches Looks like Sewage, water/drainage Stormwater under border wall Think still underground electricity/nbn cabling to go? Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 200Sep 25, 2017 2:14 pm Oh wow thats a fair bit if driving We are only 5 minutes away Hubby drives past back from wirk at night Ours has been stretched out almost 2weeks to do scrape/trenches/things in trenches and still waiting for slab(others are a week from scrape to slAb) So thinking we have only been started cause a house/houses is being build close to us so when tradies finish and still have time in the day left they go to ours and do stuff there. Think we still need electricity/nbn stuff before slab nit sure lol cant see anybif that there yet. Hoping its soon Cause it cant be to good for trenches being exposed so long to elements and drying out? So it looks like we finally have some movement on site!
