Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 481Nov 20, 2017 5:29 pm Apparently copper wire is only $1.50 a kilo and pipe/scrap is $4 a kilo. So really not that much they get for a house thinking its then “serial” vandalists that goes round to lots of houses and stealing it, as its not wort it doing 1 house but also wondering if its not the same ones that stole our neighbours gas hot water system... Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 483Nov 20, 2017 5:48 pm Entilzha possible. people do watch houses for the time to remove bits. even $10 here and there adds up to them. bummer about the delay as it will cut your lease end time real close Yes thats our concern. Can just make sure we ate packed up and ready to move. Or if needed get a pod and store the things Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 484Nov 21, 2017 5:27 pm So just boundary garage wall, kitchen bit and around doors/windows for bricking left. Upon closer inspection of the vandalism/theft we saw that the cooling pipe was just ripped to pieces and the wires was not missing just cut into bits snd pieces, the actual bits thats cut off is under insolation or still dangling from the frame! 70% is still in tact. The danage is enough to keep build up! So we are thinking some naughty kids/ neighbours being idiots cause their hotwater system was stolen?/ disgruntled employee/ some one that jealous and wanted to sabotage our build! Its so pointless Yes! But now awaiting it to be gfixed and linings to be done, so far joinery is booked for 7/12 hoping it wont delay that and that it all will be catched up quickly but was told it can potentially cause a 1-2week delay. Hoping it wint though Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 487Nov 22, 2017 6:02 pm Feeling frustrated absolutely almost nothing has been happening on site this week! Even builder only did smal row if bricks above slfresco door and nothing else! And this after they said bricks will be finished last friday, now we have horrible weather again tomorrow and they dont pitch up if there is a few drops! Stresed and unhappy 😔 Still window/doirs slls/above left, kitchen area garage front pillars and boundary wall, left to brick Electrical fixe ups, insolation fuxups , plaster board, aircon fixups and a beam that goes diwn from frame thats niw skew? Needs to be done, feeling like going no where! Like niw they dint care at all No uodate if what’s happening/going on or going to happen- nothing Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 488Nov 22, 2017 8:46 pm bricky would be limited in what he can do in wet weather as rain would impact on him as he works externally and cant mix mortar etc in the rain. Internal i assume they will be pulling people in as they can from other jobs to redo the work that needs it but at least next monday and tuesday so far look like good days Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 489Nov 23, 2017 12:57 am Which means due to the actions of idiots our build is delayed with 2plus weeks and to think if they kept to gheir initial time frame it could have been avoided all together. Now the rusk of delivered plaster board getting wet and insolation to get wet! Funny enough saw a tripswitch and a new wire installed would think the fixups would also be done whild on site. Sad though hoping they catch up on times! And that no other work will be delayed! And hoping joinedy will go ahead as planned on 7/12 Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 490Nov 23, 2017 7:42 am Hope tiday we will have our electrical and insolation fixed and gyprock hung and that no delay will be caused with the vandalism. Hoping nobrain that brickies can finish our house this week and we can have lockup and doors installed tomorrow Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 491Nov 23, 2017 11:42 am Went past house and saw brickies there did not stop or go in but looked like they did something around the garage area maybe the piers that will be rendered. Not sure if anything else was done earlier or will be done later today will go have a proper look tonight if still light enough or tomorrow late afternoon:) praying for bricking to be completed this week as well as the linings (elictrica/aircon piping /insolation to be fixed and gyprock to be in! Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 494Nov 23, 2017 12:51 pm Entilzha yep they will be wanting to finish to get onto their next job. hopefully whne you check it tonight they will have acheived a lot today Hope so! Now fx for that electrical/insolation/gyprock bit Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 495Nov 23, 2017 7:51 pm Sarah159 good that the brickies are back, youve been unlucky with a bit of rain at this time of year... Im sure they will finish this week though! Was hoping but still heaps to do, 6m boundary wall, around windows and doors and the one pillar from garage... (16 days now, 1 no work due to rain) . Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 497Nov 23, 2017 8:26 pm Sarah159 Id say thats another 2 or 3 days work. Luckily the bricks dont slow down any other of the other work that you need done. Did the electricians fix up the wiring today? no change inside with aircon pipe/wiring/insolation we actually picked up insolation on the outside last night and moved it inside... brickie said they might put up doirs before they continue inside I sure dont hope they leave it all exposed again, but really frustrating not to have had any change inside at all (so alkready a week behind schedule so intotal like consultant said 2+ weeks due to this extra) Was hoping it would be fixed this week at least as consultant set it as a priority, would hate to think how ling things take thats not a priority) Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 498Nov 23, 2017 8:32 pm sarah159 Brickies has not work a full day since they started They only have been there between 9-12 at latest. If they sud a full day it would be completely finished with bricks. So we think that they have been building on a couple of sites at the same time. Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 500Nov 24, 2017 4:52 am They always worked until around 1 on our house too which i found odd.. I thought maybe they had to leave to pick their kids up from school or something.. They never worked on fridays at all So it looks like we finally have some movement on site!
