Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 743Feb 13, 2018 4:05 pm Hoping! Ss was saying last week around 22/2 but not confirmed cause of gas line thats in now phew! And paving/site works thats still pc items which need to be completed for invoice beforehand Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 744Feb 14, 2018 2:00 pm so yesterday the paving people contacted us and wanted $400 cash to remove the soil before they start the paving, they said they do not dever it to the contract to be paid through that avenue... now today they contact us again now they want another $600 to do the concrete bit from the paving onto the road! they say they did not know about it and it was not included in the initial quote and contract price and we need to pay it if we want it. where are we supposed to get that from ??? this is getting ridiculous! Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 747Feb 14, 2018 2:32 pm urgh yes! now everyone is blaming everyone else and saying its not part of the "paving" what does turn key mean then? we do half the work and leave you to try and do the rest you have a driveway but cant use it cause you cant get on or off it? but we spoke to our homestart broker who said if it was included in the pc sum then it will be credited back to our account. but according to our selections consultant and ss it was not included, but our sales consultant said it was... so confusing! anyway to stop this craziness the paving guy agreed to wait for the $600 for the concrete bit in order for us to forward the invoice to home start to pay directly to him from the $$ left over from the initial contract/invoice. our ss did say if that $600 was to be added to the company bill it will then be $1000 so we will save $400 just to defer it ourselves. don't see the point of a turnkey house that is left uncompleted and quoted uncomplete... At least Home Start was accommodating to use surplus $$ for these bits! to be honest easier to deal with them than the builder! will definitely with our next build only let them complete the outer bits, and have own floors/paving/ tiling etc done. not only will we save money but will also be able to manage these things properly and not get these surprizes! How could they fail to mention this to us! they remembered to tell us to remove the standup kerb and have council cut it so we can remove it but never mentioned the concrete and that its not included or we have to pay it separate... funny how someone comes to site to give a quote and don't include the total of it all, not to mention no one picking it up either.... we are just so over all this at this point of time! Homestart said to do the invoice bits directly to them because if it goes to company and they need to authorize it etc it can cause more delays. so to make it easier we will do it like homestart said! (they are also not impressed) Any way a good thing is paver said they will be finished next Wednesday with the paving! yay! and that pavers will be onsite over the weekend! We then went back to house picked out off cut pieces out of skip and took a box out! Our fears are correct! Wrong colour! Ours is titanium they installed vintage grey! Ours have grey tones the ine installed has brown tones! What can we do now??? To not cause delays ! 😖 so not happy Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 756Feb 15, 2018 7:25 pm Pci booked for 26/2 at 9 am Ss said if bank does valuation and payment before inspection we can get keys at inspection... not sure if home start will do it all in 10 days! Gues depends on how quick valuation can be done! We might be in just before lease ends and we go camping!!!! Lol time to put in blinds/security:) Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 757Feb 15, 2018 9:08 pm they always say with materials like that that there is variation between batches. thats why flooring like bricks they mix the box contents up to even out any variation between boxes only things you can do is compare what you got with what supplier has in their showroom if known or a trip into selections center to compare. did the discarded packaging have labels on it? Gratz on getting to PCI - you getting an inspector in? Re: First home build SA Hickinbotham 758Feb 15, 2018 11:31 pm Yes! Even name of colour is different and we have a sample and photo there is almost no grey/blue and original had almost no brown We took titanium and got given vintage grey! Supplier said to ss its the same colour! If there was an issue they coukd have informed us (we did have a second choice in iur selections incase of an issue, but also not this colour) ss said he will have a look on monday with site visits and if an issue wecan discuss at pci... Hubby said we deliberately took the floor with the most grey/blue and all our furniture choices was based around that colour so a slight difference in the grey we can understand but for almost all grey to be “brown “ looking instead if ghe cold blue grey is not right. Also if product/supply changed we should have been informed. We were specifically after the grey/blue colour 😱 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site!
