Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 422Nov 10, 2017 1:06 pm Nawsome awesome - that seems so close now too!! yes! we have been working on the tradies not working and things closing down, but when we saw the tradie that did the roof he said that the tradies don't close down they work through and only takes a couple of days of on public holidays, they take leave during the year and have others that fill their spots when they do. that's a total of 14 weeks build! including the public holidays !!! WOW, so adding the pci, site clean , fixups, payment and working on the standard 15-16 weeks, I think it is looking pretty much to be between 15- 26th ? gives us enough time to move out and arrange things like watertank, solar etc, move everything to the new house and clean out our old rental before 25 February! our rental agency doesnt want us to be home when they show the property to prospective tenants,(say it makes them feel uncomfortable and then they don't look/want to rent) well if you wana open my pantry then yes feel uncomfortable, I don't feel comfortable with strangers in my house while I'm not there (since they take no responsibility for any damages or things stolen/going missing) plus the agent said he will only be at the door where they come in so no one looking that things wont go missing... so I will feel more comfortable if we could be completely moved out by then... Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 423Nov 10, 2017 1:24 pm must feel good to see that it might not be as close as you feared (touch wood) and at the least have everything boxed and sealed before agent takes people into the house - pretty sure they cant just say you cant be there anyway (but dont quote me on that ) I think the shutdown period allowance is more to protect themselves in case certain trades or supplies are not available during this period plus they wont be processing payments and invoices for that time. watertank and solar etc can all easily be done after you move in anyway But late January would give you plenty of time for the process. I will be moving as soon as i can once i get my keys - only delay will be getting the flooring done and i will try to see if that can be done on the day i get the keys if i cant to it after PIC before handover - Would have been much easier if i had done my flooring by builder I want to be my house within a day or 2 of getting the keys - even if it just an airmattress for first day or 3 Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 424Nov 10, 2017 1:36 pm Entilzha must feel good to see that it might not be as close as you feared (touch wood) and at the least have everything boxed and sealed before agent takes people into the house - pretty sure they cant just say you cant be there anyway (but dont quote me on that ) I think the shutdown period allowance is more to protect themselves in case certain trades or supplies are not available during this period plus they wont be processing payments and invoices for that time. watertank and solar etc can all easily be done after you move in anyway But late January would give you plenty of time for the process. We got nrw furniture that the company is keeping in warehouse till we get keys theyn they deliver it straight to new house, but still have a fair bit of stuff to move over Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 427Nov 11, 2017 5:52 am Sarah159 How exciting! everything seems to be moving along well now. January isnt too far away!! 😊 Lol got a bit stressed but in action to do a bit every week that we are packed up by then. Thankful it will before our lease expires! And before uni starts again for myself abd hubby. (I put in for a leave of absence if needed and we move in middle if term but by sound of January i dont nred it cause we will be settled when it starts up last week in February ) You are about 2 weeks off ? Must be feeling excited! Re: First jome build SA Hickinbotham 429Nov 11, 2017 9:28 am Sarah159 I have been packing up bits and pieces too, so much easier to do it gradually that all in one shot. I think probably more like 3 weeks, but yes very exciting! 😊 Yay!
