Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 06, 2017 12:51 pm Dilema. We are 2 weeks away from handover & I am finding a number of issues that the builder is intimating will not be changed. The main problem is our ensuite. Apparently they shifted a wall (made the ensuite smaller) to hide the incorrect placement of pipes during slab stage. They have also installed a vanity that is 100mm shorter than the 1800mm agreed to on the plan (it was designed to run the entire length of a 1800mm wall), & have installed a glass shower screen that is also 100mm to short. Our superviosr seems to think that as long as he has a reasonable explanation for these changes, he is not responsible for fixing them. Can I insist that they redo the bathroom to plan. Can anyone recommend a good handover specialist who can go to bat for me. I realise that these fixes will be costly for the builder, but I have compromised on alot already & at some stage I just want what I have paid for. Re: Handover Inspection Brisbane 2Jul 06, 2017 1:41 pm Contact the QBCC. If something is not as per plan it is a classified as a defect and needs to be fixed Re: Handover Inspection Brisbane 3Jul 08, 2017 4:45 pm Yes definately call QBCC, we're not even at lockup and have several defects, they have been very helpful with providing information and they will be setting up a mediation with our builder. Hopefully we get somewhere because grabbing a solicitor to sort it will be rather expensive. Stand your ground and dont let them get away with it. Good luck Re: Handover Inspection Brisbane 4Jul 12, 2017 8:54 am Thanks for the support. As I expected, the builder is now saying that our original plan was "not possible" to build. Why we were not involved is beyond me, & I know from 100 project home pics that our design is entirely possible...maybe just not by them. Will be contacting the QBCC today. i would suggest nothing is unreasonable for PCI. we did all sorts, including checking the hot water, checking all the GPO's had power, testing that the showers were… 9 98531 you need to understand the breakdown of warranties. 90 warranty is considered as minor defects rectification period where as the longer ones are more major/structural… 1 5278 Hi, I have this sewer inspection point sitting in an odd spot in the rear of my yard: https://imgur.com/ghLI98q What I'd like to do is put a firepit in that corner of… 0 6485 |
