Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 03, 2017 10:32 am Hi everyone, We are still in the very early stages of planning our build as our titles are a long way off. We don't yet have a contour plan, but our block is flat at the front and drops towards the back (maybe around 2-3m). We had originally planned to build the new M Botanica, which would fill out most of the length of our block and require what we imagine to be substantial site works. We would also plan to extend one whole width of the plan to increase the sizes of the bedrooms and add a small study..... we expect this to add a nice amount to the price tag...... our other option is to go up... so we are also considering the M Vantage, perhaps even the split level version to work with the fall of the land. Our thoughts were that perhaps the smaller building envelope on mostly flat land and a plan which flows with the fall of the land... may end up costing less? Or similar? The Vantage also includes all the spaces and room sizes we want, so we would not need to alter the plan like the Botanica. I understand we really need to sit down with the consultant with a proper contour plan to get a clear idea, but if anyone has any opinions or ideas for us at this stage it would be greatly appreciated. It's a slightly bigger site cut than I wanted; but the backyard actually feels really, really nice and we have a pretty cool landscaping plan for the slope and retaining. It's not cheap; big site costs and it's a Signature build so pretty high spec finish. The Botanica is cool. I never wanted a double storey hence why we went single. Our block is 660sqm, with a 37 square house we ended up with 10m of backyard. We also did the initial custom build and 4 tender quotes; but it worked out a good 150k more than the Metricon.
