Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 02, 2017 9:45 pm Hi all I'm looking to build the following 1. a fence at the front of the house that includes an electric gate. so it will be locked and shut whenever we are out 2. side fence at the side of the house In this situation, how will the water and electric meter readings be made in this case? My electric meter is at the side of the house where I intend to build the side fence. Given the electric company is unable to enter the property anyway as the front fence is locked, can I build my side fence IN FRONT of the electric meter? or must it still be behind? Re: Building fence - how to read electric/water meter? 2Jul 03, 2017 11:17 am Aren't electric meters these days supposed to be smart meters? Ie the retail providers takes readings automatically? You would still however have the same problem witj your gas and water meters I'd imagine.
