It looks great and I am really excited now! But did notice the family room looked small. So we have been looking at where the TV and couches will go. We are now thinking of putting the TV on the wall directly opposite the kitchen bench - where the large window is on the plan and change the window to two smaller ones down either side of the TV. Anyone else looked at this area and have ideas? Love to hear what else people are doing. Re: Building a Clarendon parkhill 29 in Brisbane 42Aug 26, 2017 2:22 pm Hey That's the one room I'm not a fan of size wise. We also thought of changing the windows to two smaller ones and the Tv on that external wall. We changed it back to normal as it meant the couch would have had to have been closer to the tv if we did it that way. So we went with the length option and left it how it was. On the plans the width of the room is to the edge of the island. Where as you need to continue that hall way right past the island. I'm thinking the rumpus upstairs will be more our main lounge. I have seen someone swap the dining with the lounge and take out that window at the bottom of the stairs and put the tv there. - it's a smaller room so we also didn't do that. I wonder why they updated it? I mean I agree it's not the nicest Parkhill but I'm surprised they bothered. I thought maybe they were going to put a new home instead. Now I want to go visit and have a look again. Re: Building a Clarendon parkhill 29 in Brisbane 47Sep 08, 2017 2:00 pm Following this thread . I am doing a wentworth 35 in Mango Hill. How did you find the electrical part? I am going nuts with the amount of down lights that I need and pricing on that. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89393 Re: Building a Clarendon parkhill 29 in Brisbane 48Sep 16, 2017 12:02 am kishore Following this thread . So when we did do our electrical it came short than whst we thought we'd spend. We allocated 12k but we actually only need a bit over 10k, so there wasn't a big surprise when we had our appointment. If we did go over I would have tried to stay within the 12k budget. Re: Building a Clarendon parkhill 29 in Brisbane 49Sep 16, 2017 7:39 am elleimac kishore Following this thread . I will update my thread this week end.. Re: Building a Clarendon parkhill 29 in Brisbane 50Oct 10, 2017 1:09 pm It's great to see that you are building at Newport, we are too. We are waiting on our land registration too and it is supposed to be this month and settlement in November. Fingers crossed. We are building with a lowset with Coral and have a 400m2 block. I haven't started a page yet as not really much to report. Will be good to see how everyone else's Newport builds go and what soil classification everyone comes in with. Re: Building a Clarendon parkhill 29 in Brisbane 51Nov 13, 2017 6:56 pm Just thought I'd update this post. Clarendon decided on Friday that our soil test came back E and they don't build on E soil- which I never knew since when I asked how much to go from H2 to E I was told 10k, as I knew it was a possibility. They are also saying I can't have my full deposit back. Just a heaps up to anyone else who is thinking to build with them. Iv spoken to a heap of other builders the past 3 days and all will build on E. so I'm not sure what's going on with Clarendon. Re: Building a Clarendon parkhill 29 in Brisbane 52Nov 14, 2017 8:29 am Such a bummer - did Clarendon give a reason why they won't build? Our SC said it depends on the soil test and the depth of fill etc as to if they would build or not. Who else have you been talking to? We had a quote for Metricon - Mason which is kinda like the Parkhill and with some changes it was competitive price wise. And the lady we were talking with at Newport was awesome. Re: Building a Clarendon parkhill 29 in Brisbane 53Nov 14, 2017 9:12 am Hi Rebekah, Didn't realise we were in the same facebook group. We only paid a deposit of $1750 to Coral when we signed up and that included the soil test. So, I don't see why Clarendon can't refund you all but the cost of the soil testing. Hope you can find something even better soon. Gai It is Genneral stairs, but they won't deal with anyone off the street. They will only work with clients of project home builders.
