Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 02, 2017 8:39 am Hey guys! Could anybody please share any front cladding photos (or even experiences) they may have? Preferably if it is vertical front cladding. Are nail heads supposed to be visible in the cladding? There are nail heads in the front cladding of my build which are visible clearly from the outside of the home, all over the front cladding. My builder tells me that's normal but I've done a walk around my area and not all the houses have visible nail heads in their cladding. Some though, are not vertical cladding facades so this could be a reason. I've tried looking up images in Google, but none give me a good indication. Just want to hear other people's experiences Re: Front Cladding Nails Sticking Out 2Jul 02, 2017 11:54 am Go and look at the builders display home.......that is the standard you should expect. Re: Front Cladding Nails Sticking Out 3Jul 02, 2017 3:28 pm Hi Bashworth, That's a great idea and I have actually done that for some of the internal issues of the home. However, the builder's display home features a different facade, which does not have any cladding. This builder only has two display homes in QLD too. So I don't have that as a reference point, unfortunately. Re: Front Cladding Nails Sticking Out 4Jul 02, 2017 6:20 pm The cladding would have rolled and they closed the gap under the board by shooting it, they should have used a fixout gun to try that not a coil gun, terrible carpentry IMO Re: Front Cladding Nails Sticking Out 5Jul 02, 2017 6:22 pm That's the entire reason why we hide the nails, because it looks tacky Re: Front Cladding Nails Sticking Out 7Jul 02, 2017 8:44 pm Yeah it would have been a coil gun shooting it on, not really anything you can do, pulling it out you have risk of damaging the face if the board and that would be a drama, you could punch the nails and fill the holes still you have risk of damaging the board. Usually that kind of nailing is really last resort and most chippies try and do it in areas that are not seen from a ground or any common area Standard uninsulated double brick has an R value of around 0.7.
