Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 26, 2017 11:57 am I have a question to the other folks building with Better Built Home. We accepted our tender on 20th April followed by plan presentation on 6th June. We were not informed about their requirements of Landscape plan from a certified planner on the plan presentation day and neither they confirmed us the time they will take us to file our DA. After 1 week I was a bit puzzled when I received no communication and only when we rang their customer experience we learnt they are sitting on it since we have not submitted landscape plan. We have now sent them a manually drawn plan and they are saying they will take 4-5 weeks minimum from now to be ready for DA. Also they have communicated us that council still may need a formal landscaping plan. It is Hornsby council and their town planner has advised us that they are happy with a indicative plan. However they have not given us anything in written so far. How long are taking for DA approval preparation? Any unwarranted delays? Were your required to submit a formal landscape plan by architect? Seems like the experience with BBH is diluting to that of the BIG builders. They did not ask us to provide a formal landscaping plan. I am building with Metricon and they provided a rough landscape plan to the council on behalf of us . With regards to presenting to council , our builder took around 4 weeks to get ready with all required documents for DA. Hornsby council took approx 9 weeks to approve DA. They were running a bit behind schedule due to the amount of application. Hope this helps Re: Better Built Homes BBH 3Jun 26, 2017 2:24 pm Thank you deepugjacob, I appreciate your help here! The speed at which BBH is working our documentation starting from Tender is unbelievable slow. I am afraid it does not end up being a good builder turned nightmare due to more jobs accepted than what they can chew. We have to be patient I guess Re: Better Built Homes BBH 5Jun 26, 2017 2:54 pm Unfortunately. We are also building in Cherrybrook and good to know another there! Re: Better Built Homes BBH 6Jun 26, 2017 3:42 pm indu.singh0602 Unfortunately. We are also building in Cherrybrook and good to know another there! Wow!!! So we are going to be neighbors..... there will be lots of surprises. Take it as it comes and enjoy the ride Re: Better Built Homes BBH 7Jun 26, 2017 7:27 pm We are also building with BBH and had to submit an in depth landscape plan. BBH said their indicative plan wouldn't be acceptable to council because we are on a difficult block (flood affected) and will be having a pool. Re: Better Built Homes BBH 9Jun 27, 2017 9:19 am Our was a bit longer 5-6 weeks, because we had to get some extra hydraulic reports, bushfire etc I know Basix can take a couple of weeks, so I think 4 weeks is pretty standard. Re: Better Built Homes BBH 10Jun 27, 2017 4:33 pm Update on our issue: We have received a call from the management in BBH and they did acknowledge the problems and have promised us that, it be council ready by the end of next week. Fingers crossed and will keep it updated here! I would say there is no perfect builder in the market at the moment, and as long as we keep moving without compromising much! Honestly so far BBH has been much better than rest of the builders (based on personal experience and that of our friends). I just hope that this one is just a small hitch in a larger scheme of things. Hoping the best!! brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7566 I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE.
