Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 26, 2017 7:57 am Hi all, So we have our contract appointment coming up with Simonds and I was wondering if anyone has been through it and can tell us what to expect on the day? We've been to Tender and had our Gallery day. Thanks Re: Building with Simonds - What to expect at contract appt? 2Jun 26, 2017 7:58 am How are you finding the experience? We love the Dakota and want to proceed with Simonds Re: Building with Simonds - What to expect at contract appt? 3Jun 26, 2017 8:08 am Lyndal2004 How are you finding the experience? We love the Dakota and want to proceed with Simonds Hi Lyndal2004, So far so good. We've had a great experience to date. We're building the Flinders with some modifications. Re: Building with Simonds - What to expect at contract appt? 4Jun 26, 2017 9:40 am Hey bri, looking forward to follow another simonds build, we are building the palisade. Just make sure you take your time with the contract and ensure all the modifications you have made are in there, take your gallery docs with you to double check anything you're unsure of. We were basically taken to a room where we spent about 2 or 3 hours (can't remember now) going through everything. You're entitled to take the contract home and go through it if you feel rushed, although I think this may waive your 10 day cooling off period? I'm not 100% sure. Good luck with everything and just take your time Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building with Simonds - What to expect at contract appt? 5Jun 26, 2017 9:42 am The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! I'm a bit stressed about "taking it all in" in one meeting but we have decided if we're not sure we don't sign straight away. Good luck with everything and just take your time Thanks Cassie.f90 Our cooling off period is 5 days. I'm stressed about actually taking all the info in in the couple of hours allocated but we've decided we won't sign if either of us isnt' sure about anything. I've got a topic going with my updates, plans, colours etc. What stage are you at? I'm probably already following it haha We are at lockup, our painting is finished and tiles should start this week. Alpine stone. We are only having it in the bathrooms and laundry. I fell in love with them Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building with Simonds - What to expect at contract appt? 12Jun 26, 2017 5:09 pm Cassie.f90 Just checked out your thread, we have the same tiles! Alpine stone. We are only having it in the bathrooms and laundry. I fell in love with them Oh really, lol. They are nice aren't they. Had to laugh, DH and I pretty much agreed with everything and cruised through gallery except for those tiles. We knew we wanted a light grey with some texture to them. It took us ages to agree on one, lol. He kept picking ones that I thought looked green. Eventually we both liked the Alpine stone but because it's throughout the main living areas it's ended up costing us a bit. I'm still a little concerned about our bathroom and ensuite tiles choice. It now looks very dark. But on gallery day we liked how it all went together and once we have light walls and vanity it should break it up. Re: Building with Simonds - What to expect at contract appt? 13Jun 26, 2017 7:24 pm I was also concerned about dark tiles in the bathroom which is why we changed to the alpine stone. We originally had the standard simonds grey. Are your tiles the "shine" ones? I only came to realise recently how slippery they will be so will have to be careful of that. I didn't see any matte versions at gallery but I think national tiles do have them. I didn't see any matte versions at gallery but I think national tiles do have them. We picked the standard tiles in the Nero for the bathroom and ensuite. They look matte to me. Not really shiny. Yeah we were purposely steering away from shiny/slippery. I considered changing to the dark grey standard tiles but that would mess up the rest of our choices, lol. Re: Building with Simonds - What to expect at contract appt? 15Jun 27, 2017 7:57 pm We had our contract appointment today and we survived, yay. It took us 1 hour and 45 minutes in total. And wasn't too bad. It did help that we did have a Tender appointment about a month or so ago. So my advice to anyone headed to contract. Read all your info. Know all your plans. Make notes of anything you want to check or ask about and tick them off in the meeting. And as boring as it was, read the draft contract they give you before your appointment. It took me 5 sittings to finish it, lol. It kept putting me to sleep. You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 16557 I've decided, after a period of confusion (my building broker told me it's probably not worth it to use a lawyer, but others have said it is a must) that I definitely will… 7 27953 |
