Found that they had done our plumbing rough in as well. SS rang and said that the house wrap should have been done on Tuesday and that he will be following that up ASAP. Our bricks and plaster arrive tomorrow and brickies and plasters will start Monday. Our shipping container arrived to the block today and our current house goes on the market on Monday. We have had the highest rain fall at 197mm and more to come. We went out yesterday to see what had been done, the house was wrapped. Our SS said it wouldn't happen till Monday since they lost our booking for last Tuesday. We went back again today and installed insulation on the western wall. Did your SS have to grant you permission to do it? Hoping for good weather on our end we have rough in and wrapping next week Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 87Oct 15, 2017 7:43 pm Hudson House Hi H Family It’s looking great, did you install the insulation yourself? Did your SS have to grant you permission to do it? Hoping for good weather on our end we have rough in and wrapping next week We asked for permission which he was happy for us to go in and do. Im just hoping that its ok as we got batts at 90mm thick. Im praying for fine weather but looking at the weekly forecast I doubt it. Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 88Oct 15, 2017 7:58 pm Looking great so far, pity about the rough weather . 2 questions for you: - Does Coral homes not install insulation in the walls as standard? If not it's a brilliant idea to D.I.Y! - Did you get notified about the electrical rough in date or did you explicitly ask to meet with the sparky for the electrical rough in? We want to add 1 light point and change the location of 1 power point. Thank you! We want to add 1 light point and change the location of 1 power point. Thank you! Sparky was a booked meeting they rang about a week out to confirm a time. We weren't adding anything except 1 data point and ended up adding heaps more opps so over budget on electrical. Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 90Oct 15, 2017 8:09 pm That’s awesome that you had that opportunity, we are getting insulation in our rooms and our SS told us we can’t install it ourselves despite our request so we have to go through the insulation company which was costly but will hopefully be worth it. No only insulation in the roof, walls would have been extra and seriously its wasn't too hard only took hubby and I about 2 hours. Sparky was a booked meeting they rang about a week out to confirm a time. We weren't adding anything except 1 data point and ended up adding heaps more opps so over budget on electrical. Thanks for the fast reply! If you don't mind me asking how much of the insulation did you need, and which one did you use? Did the sparky charge at his personal rates for the extra work or Coral rates? Did the sparky charge at his personal rates for the extra work or Coral rates? Sparky charged his rates less the coral 30% mark up. Should have just done bare minimal with coral and upgraded everything with the sparky Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 94Oct 15, 2017 8:14 pm Hi H Family do u mind if I ask who your SS is? Do you have Steve on your build? Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 95Oct 15, 2017 8:16 pm Hudson House Hi H Family do u mind if I ask who your SS is? Do you have Steve on your build? Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 96Oct 18, 2017 8:31 pm Looking awesome H. We were disappointed to find out that wall insulation wasn't included in our build either (it was last time when we built with GJ, so thought it was a given). But we also installed our ourselves. We got Bradfords polymax. Bought 14 bags at just under 40 bucks a bag and they cover 9sqm each bag. We did the whole house because we have dark brick and dark roof. Well, we've done about half so far and looks like we have enough, lol. Ours is like quilt wadding, didn't want to muck atound with the fibreglass stuff doing it ourselves. Thought the brickies might have started today since it was fine but they are not starting till next week now. More rain predicted this weekend moving into next week too Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 99Oct 20, 2017 3:15 pm Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 100Oct 20, 2017 9:29 pm Looking great. How exciting. I think you will steam ahead of us now. I have everything crossed for you to be in by Christmas. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13781 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4360 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74719 |
