Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 65Oct 06, 2017 5:29 am Yes, our progress has been slow too with the rain. But if it's any consolation, our roof was on in a day (although ours is colourbond ) and windows and wrap only took a day (mostly complete). So you're not too far from it really starting to look like an actual house, lol. It's very exciting. The HSTP looks fine, probably a good thing really if the dirt has all sunk, now they can come and fill around it again and you can be assured that it shouldn't sink anymore after handover. Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 67Oct 06, 2017 5:38 am This is one time we're happy with our very gravelly, shaley soil. The rain has just compacted it so it's not so dusty, you can still walk on it wet and not even get mud on your boots, lol. Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 69Oct 06, 2017 5:44 am Our last build was a disaster. The cut our block really close to the boundary fence where hubby had to build some 800 high retaining walls, but it bucketed down before he got a chance to do them. So the next door neighbour's fence started falling over, and hubby had to go over in the rain and build retaining walls in clay. I bought him gum boots, but he was sinking up to his knees in it and his boots kept getting stuck, so he had to ditch them and build a wall barefoot. Excellent workplace health and safety, lol. It was just a matter of "had to" or the ground was going to all give way and the neighbour's fence and probably half their yard was going to wash down into our place, lol. Our builder does bricks before electrical rough in though. No firm dates yet, feels way too early to be pushing for a finish date, although the lady at the bank asked me if we had a completion date yet the other day. Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 76Oct 10, 2017 8:45 pm We're with CBA and they have been fantastic. We have a mortgage lender and her assistant looking after us. I send them through photo updates, which they love because they said they don't usually get to see the progress and the home that they are helping to create. Is yours like that or an independent broker? Re: Coral Homes Marcoola 80Oct 10, 2017 9:00 pm Oh, I don't know actually. I thought they were independent because they can get you a loan through almost any bank. I could be wrong though. Pretty sure my mum went through Aussie, and her home loan is with either St George or Bankwest, can't remember which. Follow my build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87724 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13781 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4354 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74717 |
