We ended up doing it... Absolute mammoth task but in total in cost about $220 for the product and about 9 hours of time to do an entire house and string it all.
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Ormeau Hills: Week 7 Bricks & Pla 314Dec 20, 2017 10:37 am Caydenn Not a stupid question at all!! Insulation needs to be done once the frames are on and the house has been "wrapped". Wrapping is that green layer you see around our house which is a moisture barrier between bricks and internal walls. Provided you did your insulation correctly you could go on site and do it yourself without running it past your SS but be aware your contract states you are not supposed to be on site without permission from Coral etc. so it is better to run it past him . Brilliant, thanks for that, where we are renting at the moment feels like the depths of hell once the sun comes up! I want our home to be as energy efficient as possible. Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Ormeau Hills: Week 8 Bricks & Pla 315Dec 21, 2017 8:01 am Looks like unfortunately all progress for this year has stopped Was really hoping they would get a good start on the bricking before closure but they haven't. Hopefully the wet and windy weather due next week doesn't rip out any insulation or get the gyprock wet. The unfortunate thing about Coral building multiple houses in close proximity of each other is that they share tradies, which means one job gets completed before the next house is started. The house up the road from us was finished bricking yesterday but it seems they aren't going to start a new job until next year. Yeah we are at the same point as you minus the plaster but a start on the bricks. Only concern i have over the xmas break is that the insulation is just sitting there and is starting to get dirty and falling out of walls. How long did plaster take for you guys? I'm hoping it can still be done before the xmas break. Bricks started yesterday and there is over 10 blokes smashing it out. We actually got our plastering done before bricks, ours started about 2 days after wrap was completed hence us rushing to get the insulation done! Such a great idea to insulate viewtopic.php?t=88323&f=31&p=1771329#p1771329 We ended up doing it... Met our SS this morning and asked about doing this ourselves, he said no and we need to use his preferred contractor if we want it I bet that will still cost a couple thousand for the whole house! So probably not worth it Re: Coral Homes Noosa 23 - Ormeau Hills: Week 8 Bricks & Pla 319Dec 21, 2017 10:20 am StephLee Caydenn We ended up doing it... Insulation required no license to lay by the way so you don't have to be certified to do the work, just make sure you adhere to safety rules by cutting around light switches and power points. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13809 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4360 |
