Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 14, 2017 11:33 am bought a 450 sq meter block in Spirngfield Rise. The land is not going to be registered until January next year. As I was rushing for 20K first home owner grant which was due to expire 30th June, I signed a preliminary contract with CMA Homee yesterday. CMA put a "Land Allowance" of $15000 for the E-Class slab. The sales manager said, he won't charge me anything if the soil test comes H1. As this is my first home, I don't know if this a common practice in building industry. Can builders charge for E-Class slab even if soil test results says soil type is S,M or H1? Five of my friends have built their houses with CMA and they are really happy. Just wondering if anyone has built with CMA and had any bad experience regarding this matter. It didn't, so it will be removed from the final invoice. It's fine to have it on there, it means if you do get stung with class E soil then you won't be scrambling to find an extra $15k out of nowhere. And if you come back with H then they will remove that from your final invoice. They do it so you don't get stuck with a bill your mortgage provider won't cover. Best of luck with your build, I'm building with CMA too and have had a few hiccups. But I guess it's builds have issues somewhere. Re: Building a new home in Springfield Rise 4Jul 25, 2017 1:36 pm I had to pay extra for piering then and there with CMA. It was a lot and unexpected, so I was very shocked. Make sure you have enough money saved just in case! My land was completely flat and scrapped ready for a build and they still added that on top.
