Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 41Jun 22, 2017 9:01 pm Just had a call from our builder, prestart booked for 10th of July woohoo 🎉 🎉🎉🎉 Sad news, our beautiful black benchtop we chose with a different supplier is actually an upgrade (our consultant failed to mention this when I asked, not his fault though. I selected it before I double checked with him again) 😭 Back to Crosby Tiles I go on the weekend to rethink the kitchen bench top and splashback.... Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 42Jun 23, 2017 10:55 am Yay! So are you definitely having essastone? I thought it was weird you chose q-stone before! But I thought maybe your builder has a deal with both.. The essastone standard isn't that great and there is no black benchtop in the standards (at least not in mine).. If your heart is set on the black, you may have to upgrade Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 43Jun 23, 2017 11:02 am I know, how exciting. Both having prestart around the same time Well before I went to Crosby I enquired about the black in the Essastone and our consultant said we now also use Q-Stone and that has a black in there standard range so that will be fine for you to use. So I went woohoo, went to Crosby and chose everything. I emailed him again double checking as Crosby said they didn't have Q-Stone listed down for Summit and he told me they have now stopped using Q-Stone It's alright though, we have agreed to go with a standard light benchtop and I will change the splashback to a black tile so it will still look lovely. $800 to upgrade was just something we couldn't justify no matter how much we loved it. Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 44Jun 23, 2017 3:52 pm Oh no that sucks! But the black splashback would look lovely - will help a lot with the cleaning too! We are also going back to Crosby this weekend to make our final tile selections.. I have no idea which kitchen splashback to choose Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 45Jun 23, 2017 4:28 pm Natasha Oh no that sucks! I have no idea which kitchen splashback to choose I wanted a black splashback originally but I thought with black cabinetry and and black benchtops it'd be a bit too much black It's so hard to choose! First time going in there I was so overwhelmed. So much I didn't even think of and had only a slight idea of what design direction I wanted to head. Do you know who your carpet/flooring supplier is? I think the biggest struggle I'm having is choosing our timber laminate flooring, haven't even thought about carpets yet Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 46Jun 23, 2017 4:36 pm jad33mily I wanted a black splashback originally but I thought with black cabinetry and and black benchtops it'd be a bit too much black It's so hard to choose! We really liked the Comfort Click collection in Silver Fox - nice light/medium grey. I do also like some of the wood look tiles I've been seeing! We saw some at Imported Ceramics and I fell in loveeee with this gloss look one (completely defeats the purpose of timber though since its gloss but it looked too amazing haha) but that was over double the amount of timber laminate (I have to admit I was looking at the most expensive one though, I'm sure there would be cheaper wood look tiles too!) Carpets - gonna go through Trevors again for that. I think the range is called Oceanic(?), but its a beautiful plush carpet, that doesn't leave tracks when you walk on it! Plus we're going to get the premium underlay. We're thinking a medium grey for the minor bedrooms and a light grey for master and theatre.. still deciding on colours though! But essentially grey haha Flooring and carpets is after handover though.. not through the builder. I remember you saying that in a previous post. Work has been a killer today Ooooh that sounds lovely, Carpet Call is our supplier. I was hoping for a light grey wood look laminate as well but they don't have that look in there standard range (boo for not being able to upgrade anything ) Hahaha I feel ya, there's way too many shades of grey! Might pop in to Trevor's after work one day since it's 2 mins down the road just to get an idea and then head into Carpet Call. Super excited for pre-start but will be so glad once it is over! Haven't even looked at our electrical plan yet to start changing where we want things to go.. Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 48Jun 23, 2017 5:11 pm Haha all good we've pretty much picked out everything already! Oh no! That sucks.. do you have an idea of what one you're going to get instead? Yea I feel ya haha I think the only thing I'm stressed about is the electrical - it's like another world! Well electrical and my kitchen splashback Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 49Jun 23, 2017 5:29 pm Natasha Haha all good we've pretty much picked out everything already! Well electrical and my kitchen splashback Lucky! Having an actual pre-start date has pushed me to get a bit more organised which is good Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is pretty much the only one I like from the range without it being cream but not sure if it will look good against the dark charcoal tiles and black cabinetry in the kitchen Electrical is certainly another world! The way they have it planned out on our original plan is just silly so going to have to sit there for a good half an hour sussing it out. Never been so stressed in my life and we haven't even got into construction yet ahaha 😂 Still unsure about the timber laminate and how it will look against our black cabinetry and black benchtop in the kitchen. Had to go with a lighter looking wood due to our furbaby as he sheds his white hairs constantly and I would get so over seeing his hair against the darker floor all the time. At least there's only the electrical plan to adjust and we should be all prepped and ready for prestart on Monday 🎉 Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 51Jul 05, 2017 7:37 pm The wood look laminate can be pretty neutral so i think you should be ok. Much better to have laminate you are unsure of though rather than tiles as it's much easier to replace if you decide you don't like it. Good luck on Monday! Also, did you end up finalising your tile selections? Like they did the form and stuff for you? Our prestart is tomorrow and I feel nauseous thinking of everything Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 54Jul 06, 2017 11:15 am Natasha Ooo I like that carpet colour - are you having these throughout?? Our prestart is tomorrow and I feel nauseous thinking of everything Thank you Yes all bedrooms and theatre will be having the same carpet. I'm hoping it will all flow with the laminate and the floor tiles to the wet areas. The floor tiles in the wet areas and laundry are similar to the carpet just a tad darker I think, more charcoal so should be ok. Yes tile selections all done, sheet all filled out. Just need to change the benchtops supplier & colour for the kitchen on the sheet which the ladies at Crosby said they can do at prestart so I don't have to return to the tile shop. How exciting and nerve wrecking! I'm looking forward to seeing how you go. Don't stress if you forget something and don't let them rush you, remember you have time to think about it afterwards. After reading so many threads on here and there comments about pre-start that's the biggest thing I have taken away from it. Take your list with you of everything you want to add, colours, anything that will help. I have a massive folder for all my samples and ideas, my partner laughs at me everytime I whip it out but you have to be prepared with these things hahaha I'll be the same Sunday night! Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 58Jul 10, 2017 3:25 pm Still wrapping my head after prestart, a lot to take in but didn't take as many photos as I should've, will post those that I do have a bit later and some colour selections. Does anyone who has built within the Summit group or other builders have prices for the following - add cold tap to fridge recess - add 4 bayonet light points ( 3 internal, 1 external) - upgrade 820 wide weatherproof door to 1000 wide - upgrade standard Westinghouse 600mm oven to Westinghouse 900mm oven - upgrade designer bracket hs205 shower head to designer bracket hs305 shower head All in all we are very happy with our selections, only came out with 1 disagreement with my partner (he wanted a gold coloured front door, I did not, settled on a nice dark blue door) Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 59Jul 10, 2017 5:51 pm jad33mily Still wrapping my head after prestart, a lot to take in but didn't take as many photos as I should've, will post those that I do have a bit later and some colour selections.
