Windows, shelving and doors are being delivered today, LOCK UP scheduled for tomorrow! Yay! Now that we have reached lock up am I justified in asking for a rough time period until handover or should I wait a week or two before asking? I've heard it can be roughly 6-8 weeks from lock up to keys and my partner and I need to give a months notice to be able to have some time off... so hard to put in dates when you have no clue if it will continue to be on time as per schedule and no set dates for handover. Lock up end of next week and i was just thinking the same. Have sent through an email to my SS on some estimated time frames as i need to give 4 weeks notice aswell. Id email or contact your SS its a resonable question. I wouldn't have thought there was 7 weeks worth of work left to do on your home :/ Hopefully they finish it sooner than the estimated 7 weeks Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 145Jan 11, 2018 1:31 pm Skcel jad33mily White set and cornices were completed before the Christmas break which was a lovely surprise. It'd be so much easier if they had a specific handover date that they worked to but I understand that would never happen cause delays and materials out of stock do happen. I will send him email tomorrow after I see that lock up is complete Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 146Jan 11, 2018 1:33 pm lovisa We were told 4-6 weeks after joinery is completed That's so quick! I'm hoping for 6-8 as I need more time to prep and we are going away over the long weekend at the beginning of March. I am so hoping it's not ready before then. After that long weekend would be perfect haha Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 147Jan 11, 2018 1:38 pm jad33mily just_a_draftee We've been locked up since a few weeks before Christmas and have been told that we still have about 7 weeks to wait :/ Really?! Maybe it's a false date to make me feel better if it finishes early. Either that or its incompetence at organising trades in a timely manner. I don't understand, you were well ahead of us! I'm sure it won't be 7 though. Hopefully they can pull their finger out and get more organised ☺️ Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 153Jan 13, 2018 6:26 pm We are well ahead haha! I have also selected black stone for the kitchen counter, can't wait to see it! Did your builder say anything about waiting 6 months before painting? I have a friend building with affordable living and they weren't interested in painting her house & said she shouldn't paint for 6 months!? Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 157Jan 19, 2018 7:56 pm It's highly recommended to wait as long as possible to ensure there is no moisture left in the bricks and/or plaster, as once you seal it, you trap anything remaining in there and can cause bubbling of the paint which is no good. We are getting our walls tested with a moisture meter prior to painting them ourselves. Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 159Jan 19, 2018 8:12 pm my brother's partner is a painter, so she is going to come and do it for us. A quick google search showed that bunnings had a meter for around $45 which may be of use. Are you painting yourself? My family are keen to do it but it makes me nervous with all the horror stories of paint peeling etc of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them.
