Usually you can't do anything until you've got your keys... Unless i misinterpreted what i have been told by Summit, they said to me i could only have external trades working during PCI week. Any other time i cannot. I met one of my neighbours tonight who is building with dale alcock and they had the keys from the office (not to move in, just to have a look on the inside) & have had their own trades in to do painting and electrical. That surprised me quite a bit as i've not heard of a builder allowing that before. Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 163Jan 19, 2018 11:49 pm Oh right. That's news to me, as I was under the impression all responsibility was with the builder until they officially hand it over to you. If one of your trades caused damage, how could you prove it was them and not another trade and then the responsibility to fix it would be in limbo :/ Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 164Jan 20, 2018 12:00 am just_a_draftee Oh right. Who knows, they are at 6 months currently for the build with another 4 weeks or so to go. Perhaps the downside of that agreement is the length of time their build has taken. They're lovely though so i hope it goes well for them. Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 165Jan 20, 2018 12:49 am Yeah, interested to see how it all turns out. You just know that a builder will try and worm their way out of anything if they can though! We are going to go and seal our walls in the coming weeks to get a headstart before handover, but that's such a minor thing compared to actual trades coming in. I have also selected black stone for the kitchen counter, can't wait to see it! Did your builder say anything about waiting 6 months before painting? I have a friend building with affordable living and they weren't interested in painting her house & said she shouldn't paint for 6 months!? Thank you! It certainly gets dirty though, but that's what you have to endure when you choose black kitchens. Our SS tried to get away with the marks on the walls because he assumed we would be painting as soon as we move in but we just don't have the funds to do it straight away and want to wait for the house to settle a bit more. I was going to seal the walls straight away but after reading just_a_draftee's comments I may wait 6 months to do that too Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 167Jan 23, 2018 12:44 pm jad33mily Summitlovin Awesome progress and love the black kitchen cupboards/stone. The amount of appliances or things that mark white drives me nuts! Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 168Jan 24, 2018 11:50 am We had our tile meeting on Saturday afternoon, it went well. Forgot to take photos of our tiles though, doh! Waterproofing began Monday and we have dates of everything booked in up until PCI which at this stage will be around 02/03! So excited. We were however quite dissapointed with the giant marks on the walls from tradies being careless. They are not little either! Brought it to the SS attention and he was hoping we were painting straight away to get away with it but no, so he will be asking painter to scrub them down for us. In love with our black feature wall strips to the showers. Next to happen is deliveries of the appliances on Thursday, electrical/plumbing/gas/nbn finals to start on Friday along with the measure of the blinds. Still in shock about how quickly everything is progressing Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 171Feb 07, 2018 10:56 am Pavers are on site for paving to start, plumbing, gas and electrical fixtures are in. What's going on with that? What's going on with that? Haha I know right! The charcoal is for the driveway with a cream border. The lighter grey is for the alfresco and some paving outside the laundry with a cream border. I'm not keen on the cream border but that was my partner's decision as we have always had the outside is his domain, inside is mine. Hopefully it looks alright! Re: Our build with Easystart Homes in Carissa Estate (Sevill 174Feb 07, 2018 11:18 am Mix of warm and cool colours there, not sure how that will turn out. Hopefully okay! Love the cream border against the grey and charcoal pavers, should have trusted my partners judgement from the get go haha. PCI has been booked for 07/03 at 8am - we're getting close to the finish line woohoo! Pavers looks good Thanks! They still need to install remote control garage door and manual roller door in garage, house clean, fly screens installed, caulking, timber laminate flooring installed, carpets installed, blinds installed Not a lot left so don't know why they pushed our PCI a week, possibly because of the long weekend I don't understand why your supervisor has said 8 days for paving. Our pavers were on site Wednesday, paving didn't start until this morning, they did all that in a couple of hours. They still have to install paving down the left hand side of the house that we paid extra for but it's not a lot should only take an hour. Hopefully they can have yours done quickly for you! of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 24329 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 19437 |
