Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 21Jul 13, 2017 9:11 am its nice when it feels like its actually starting to happen. One thing i will recommend when you get to do your electrical/ lighting selections. make sure you allow enough outside lights By default they do laundry door and alfresco i think but look for other areas that might benefit - eg the area between your kitchen theater and lounge looks like it would benefit if not included that's a nice piece of art and i wish i had seen that soil site 5 months ago though the other land i was looking at looks like its all h1-d so not much difference Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 22Jul 13, 2017 9:40 am we'll have provision to the side cortyard area for electrical - eventually (when we can afford it), we'll put a pergola there so want to have option of lighting and a fan. Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 23Jul 13, 2017 9:55 am yep that what i did. put 2 wall lights on either side of my back wall with power points to allow for lighting future pergola also put one down the side of the house level with the laundry wall so i have light where my eventual veggie garden is likely to be, have been told by several people they wouldn't have thought of that and would have been trying to add lighting in those places afterwards at a probable higher cost Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 24Jul 13, 2017 10:09 am we have so many "provisions" for exactly that reason. we have a gas bayonet fitting in our alfresco so we have the option to hook the bbq up to mains. We won't do that initially as apparently we also have to change our bbq. But nice to know that if we want to, we have the option (and only was 230 for the bayonet to be placed there - no idea how much it would cost to retrofit, but guessing a lot more) Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 25Jul 13, 2017 10:37 am We got selections really quick (3days after master las was done) hope you get in quick too. Our consultant got back to us with quotes the same day and within a week we got all of the final prices to sign offfor selections and plans. Hope you get in quick too Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 26Jul 13, 2017 12:39 pm That sounds so quick Lovisa. We were told 2 weeks wait for selections, then another 2 weeks for selections to get back to the company and then we'd have an appt with them to go over our selections with their interior specialist to ensure we haven't made "interesting" choices and to double check costings. Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 27Jul 13, 2017 1:55 pm i was told 2 weeks but then when it came time to make the appointment it was about 8 days. only other real provisions i made was data ports and power points and a tap plumbed to fridge space for my next fridge Once i had my selections appointment and consultant booked they were really responsive to giving me prices and details via email so that by the time i went in i pretty much had it all sorted and costed myself plus go in before hand to check out the choices etc Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 28Jul 17, 2017 9:49 pm Apparently they are starting drawing our master plans this week, and hope to have them done by end of next week. So selections are still ages off So frustrated as I'm ready to move forward but are stuck. We can also look at other things to get quotes for stuff not included by our builder. Need to start making some lists. Think we have gotten a good builder as they are doing things "properly" to make our house build to the best quality. Apparently our house size may increase/ decrease as they will find optimum size to make even brick course so all the ends finish on a full or a half. Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 30Jul 17, 2017 10:09 pm We are building with Adelaide Designer Homes - so a smaller company, but I like it as we have met with the owner a few times and it all feels very transparent for everything. Itching to get to council approval application (jealous of you!!) Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 32Jul 21, 2017 4:19 pm A mock up of the view from the kitchen sink to the lounge. I hate my current kitchen which faces a fence (and is isolated from the main living space) and we wanted our new place to have an open plan kitchen, living and dining area. It has ended up slightly different than first planned as the kitchen, dining and living space became more of a L shape because of the courtyard. But I should be still able to watch tv whilst doing the dishes!! Only be able to see half the screen though!! (1m) between them not sure what i can do to make it look better? Maybe add potted small plants/ shrubs on the outside infront if fencd to make it look better as its closed on oneside to garage and open to side that walks to dinning/alfresco. We currently have kitchen like that and i hate it but had no ither option Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 35Jul 22, 2017 1:01 am Can you add those stagger doirs for court yard pn diing and lounge side? Making the virw open to outside and creating a more open feel to the dpace? Not sure if you like something like that Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 36Jul 22, 2017 8:53 am there are 4 panel sliding doors opening out from the kitchen to the courtyard - dh just didn't draw them in (was wasting too much time doing this at work!! ) Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 38Jul 22, 2017 2:11 pm went to look at floorings as I liked the idea of vinyl planks, but wanted to know how they felt under foot- and ended up buying vinyl planks and carpet for whole house. Ended up spending about $100 over allowance (not bad when spending 10 000) but have gotten upgrades on what we had budgeted for. The pic shows the vinyl - we got a lighter coloured carpet. Should get samples in the next few weeks for when we start with selections. Surprised how easy it was to choose colours - both dh and I agreed on same colour. Sales guy was surprised as normally it takes a lot of debate for a couple to choose Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 39Jul 22, 2017 2:29 pm love it looks a lot / similar to the one we got, if i may ask where did you get it from and what did they quote you per sqm? also what is the brand and name of it? (really looks like ours ) decisions for colors and selection both me and hubby was on the same page and both of us liked/disliked the same things. we actually went through so many display villages and homes before our selections just to make sure what we want and did not want and we took photos of everything we like, at the end we knew exactly and it was really easy did not have to have a lot of debates or compromises . Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 40Jul 22, 2017 2:56 pm This was from solomons - it is their commercial range and called Bark. Was 55 per sqm including instillation (got discount by buying today). We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37156 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19114 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13449 |
