Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 141Sep 30, 2017 6:25 pm think that we *may* have found an alternative tile for our splashback - just need to see it in real life and see if we still like it, and then find out how expensive it is!! next time dh and i can get time off together to go into tile ship is Tuesday week!! This is the tile http://www.beaumont-tiles.com.au/All-Pr ... il&pspid=1 and is inspired by us changing other selections!! So we have lost the jasper colour from the roof and are now going monument and are going black for the window frames and sliding doors! Feeling so much more comfortable with these colours for outside. Readjusted colours Bricks - Harvest Gold Roof, Gutter - Monument Garage Door and Fascia - Paperbark Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ensuite Like ⋅ 1 comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Main Bathroom, WC and laundry Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen with splashback TBC Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 142Oct 04, 2017 12:53 pm We got full council approval today!! So just need to finish selections (still have electrical next week, then final selections on the 31st Oct) And then get our bank pack together and fx get that approved by the bank And then knock down our house!! Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 144Oct 10, 2017 3:00 pm Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 145Oct 10, 2017 4:16 pm Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 146Oct 11, 2017 9:43 am All looks great ! Getting council approval is such a big relief ! Signing the bank stuff is also a big relief once done ! Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 148Oct 13, 2017 3:04 pm one step forward, 2 steps back! and that is the building process!! it looks highly unlikely that we will demolish before christmas now. the demo company said to get services cut, we will need to be vacated for 4 weeks (you can't put in the paperwork to start this process until after vacancy and then can take up to 4 weeks for it to go through). So we will probably move out now in mid december and hope to demolish first week of January, so then with 6 weeks of wetting the block before they can start site works, will be feb-march before we get a slab down. In many ways, I am happy to have a slightly delayed start as Feb i am increasing my work hours (youngest starting kindy), so we will have a little more cash available, and more time to get packed and organised to move (which is great as dh is currently in canada) and we want to do a good clear out, not just move junk etc, more time to sell stuff such as the ac, move stuff down to the back like our river pebbles which we will reuse. downside, our current house is falling down/ breaking down. Some of the veranda broke during the heavy rain, the kitchen tap is dripping, i somehow broke the sink seal (never knew there was one), the front tiles are lifting and cracking,my son came out with a chunk of plaster from the wall in his room... Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 149Oct 13, 2017 3:27 pm hmmmmm either I did something bad .....or the demo company is spinning porkies. I know the lead time for disconnections is 4 - 6 weeks. we had a 2 and a bit week space between electricity being disconnected and then the gas. I remained living at the house until the gas was disconnected.......it isn't too hard to live without power while you can still cook and have a hot shower!! Rest of the family moved out about a week before the power went. If you aren't in a rush the extra time will be a blessing! Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 151Oct 20, 2017 7:37 pm thanks for thinking of me. bit of a standstill at the moment. Dh is overseas at the moment and we have final selections when he gets back. I've been getting a few quotes for grass, curtains etc. We ended up going our own way for kitchen appliances and got a really good deal meaning we could upgrade and still pay less!! So on the 31st, we meet with the builder to go over our selections and then sign off on prices and variations. Probably not demolishing until January now, so still a long way off getting our slab down (were hoping to have slab down in Jan) Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 153Oct 26, 2017 7:50 pm 6 weeks of wetting the block ? Wow we only had to do 2 hours a day for 2 weeks and we didn't need to vacate premises for 4 weeks before services were cut. We ordered ours and then waited 3 weeks we still hadn't moved out yet and our power got cut off we moved out that night I would question those things if you feel the need Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 154Nov 03, 2017 10:28 am Nawsome thanks for thinking of me. bit of a standstill at the moment. Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 155Nov 04, 2017 5:16 pm We met with the consultant during the week to go over variations - took quite a few things out as we did go a little OTT during selections. We ended up going to Solver today as we weren't 100% on our paint colur choice of comet dust and are now going spirit grey. Seems a really nice and neutral colour that make our other colours pop a bit. Bit ouchie going to get quotes for security door for the front and for the sliding doors. Definitely going for function over looks, but we want to be able to open the house up whilst we are not at home and know that it is secure. So fx this week, we can sign off on all the variations and then get the next step with the bank - we are reasonably confident with getting our loan easily as we had it approved in principle, and our suburb has had some really good sales recently (3 properties over 700) which will help with our valuations. Thats great! Yay We ended up with x guard security doirs for 1 front door 1x 150cm sliding doir for laundry and 2x 240cm sliding doors was around $2350 You can see out but people cant see in type mesh /steel doors Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 158Nov 10, 2017 2:15 pm hoping to get our final variations next week signed off. Tiles are apparently dragging their feet at a few adjustments, but overall, looking like we are right on where we thought we should be pricewise, and that includes a few upgrades. Thinking we may stay in the house now until January as no point in moving out too early and having to pay rent. Just ready to start already though - did hear that admin process can be slow, but fx it means that the build will go smoothly Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 159Nov 10, 2017 2:19 pm Nawsome hoping to get our final variations next week signed off. Just ready to start already though - did hear that admin process can be slow, but fx it means that the build will go smoothly Our admin bit took 4 months (upto settlment/fin approval/council approval) and a week after approvals to be released to construction and then a week later they started the process:) Paying rent and a mortage is a pain Good to be in your house still over Christmas and to get a rental most wint move over holiday season so better options available from January anyways Re: KDR - custom home in Clearview, SA with ADH 160Dec 01, 2017 3:24 pm Finally got our bank pack today - now to see if our bank it happy!! and then we can finally book in the demo company and get this build started!! We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37156 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19114 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13449 |
