Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 101Feb 02, 2018 6:56 am Hubby spoke to SS yesterday and the house should be completed next week, so our inspection should be the week after. Will post up photos then! Hopefully the list of fixes isn’t too big after that (🤞), I’m so looking forward to moving in there! Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 102Feb 02, 2018 7:39 am Oh good not long to go now. Hopefully there’s not much too fix there. Have you done any packing yet? viewtopic.php?t=86597 Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 103Feb 03, 2018 8:40 am We are not long after yours. Hopefully it will end at the next of Feb for us. Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 104Feb 03, 2018 5:38 pm Renman We are not long after yours. Hopefully it will end at the next of Feb for us. Don’t know when ours it yet. Still no baluster and still a bit more too go. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 105Feb 03, 2018 6:04 pm Our main things to go next week are balcony tiling and balustrade and portico plaster and pillars installed. Our main fix ups we foresee are just one wall we aren’t happy with and the kitchen tiling of the splashback. Then after handover we will do our flooring and concrete. Haha... Because we packed to move into our current rental only a few months ago we only unpacked the minimum stuff so most of it’s all in boxes still. We are happy that they are fixing up all mosaic tiles issue in the bathrooms and laundry. Our list of of post handover is huge as well. Fireplace, glass splash back, additional joinery, WIR, carpets, floorboards, appliances installation, pendants light to dinning kitchen sitting room ensuite and master bedroom. The biggest job, full landscaping of the house and fences. Seeing the list is stressing me out. We have all the landscaping to go too which we will do ourselves. How are you going with your landscaping plans Ren? Are you trying to go more of a formal style with your facade? That’s our plan! Want to have the driveway and front entryway separate. Think we will be doing steps in concrete though although the paving it does look lovely! Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 110Feb 05, 2018 9:53 am Have you started to look for a landscape designer yet? Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 111Feb 06, 2018 1:11 pm Renman Have you started to look for a landscape designer yet? Sort of. We have pretty much designed our layout already for gardens and alfresco stuff ourselves. We’ve got a local lady who has a nursery and design service just to help us to make sure our planting ideas will work. Are you doing your landscaping work yourself? Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 112Feb 13, 2018 8:59 pm Just a few picture updates! Still waiting on balcony and portico finishes! I tiling looks like it’s been laid nice and straight. There was something couldn’t figured out about it house. Now it realized that the garage is not attached to the house. Haha Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 115Feb 14, 2018 8:35 pm Haha. Yeah the separate garage isn’t very common but it’s worked well for our block and style I think! Everything is coming together nicely, really happy with the tile choices but not overly impressed with the finish on the tiles so we’ll see how we go with our SS tomorrow! Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 116Mar 07, 2018 8:12 pm Scaffold is finally down and we can see the house finished on the outside! Yay! Still waiting on final walk through as we are waiting on tiling to be fixed but otherwise we seem to be nearly done... I hope. 🤞 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 117Mar 16, 2018 12:31 am Hi Bethany! We're building the Trentham also! I love your design choices! Can I ask is that the microwave cavity you have moved to the pantry? And have you put a sink in there with a bench? Can I ask how much that cost to add that and the window spash back? We have added a window splash back in the kitchen but I think I'd like to do that in the pantry too! Can't wait to see your final photos! Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 118Mar 16, 2018 9:42 pm CatRose Hi Bethany! We're building the Trentham also! I love your design choices! We have added a window splash back in the kitchen but I think I'd like to do that in the pantry too! Can't wait to see your final photos! Hey CatRose, thank you and congratulations on starting your build! Yes, we moved our microwave cavity into the pantry area. To do our layout we upgraded to have a pantry fitout instead of shelves on one wall which was about $1100 (excluding our stone and cabinetry finish upgrades) and then moved our microwave cavity into that new cabinetry. We haven't fitted a sink in there, I'm just having one in the kitchen island as that's what I liked personally but I'm sure you could add a sink in no problems. As for the window splashback it was about $900 for the window and about $250 for that to be a plaster reveal around the window. We're really happy we put that window in as it wasn't a very expensive upgrade and it's much nicer having the natural light in there, definitely recommend it! Re: Metricon Trentham Build - The Baby Bordeaux 119Mar 16, 2018 9:45 pm Oh and I can't wait for final photos either! However we are definitely having some setbacks just getting the last few things fixed. We have a meeting on site on Monday with the next level up of managers about the workmanship on a couple of items. Hopefully we get some decisions made and some work on site as very little has been done these last couple of months. Things go very slow once you have an issue to be rectified...
