Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 19, 2008 8:47 pm We dont love any of their facades and are waiting on a quote to come in on their basic facade with a couple of variations
Has anyone else done a varied PD facade? Was it exxy? I thought I heard they were updating their facades does anyone know if this is true?? Re: Has anyone varied a facade on a PD home 5Aug 20, 2008 9:33 am I had trouble with this too, we are building the Cremorne and I wanted the top story done in the weatherboardlike a lot of new homes are using. I was told they couldn't do it and I had to use bricks My karma ran over your dogma Re: Has anyone varied a facade on a PD home 7Aug 20, 2008 11:03 am Tolstoy No additional cost for exchanging 2 large standard windows to 4 slim vertical windows - which was surprising! That's interesting, we wanted to change the windows on our facade (Cremorne with Arlington) and they said NO! From memory for the other windows we did change/delete there was no charge. I believe the cost of bricks and windows is about the same. Happy at Home Re: Has anyone varied a facade on a PD home 8Aug 20, 2008 11:05 am I hope the bricks/window costs are the same
We are deleting the rear garage door replacing with bricks, deleting the sidelights and replacing with bricks, deleting the exterior garage door and replacing with bricks and also changing the large upstairs games room window to a long high window like in the other bedrooms... If we have to pay much extra for all of the above I won't be happy My karma ran over your dogma Re: Has anyone varied a facade on a PD home 9Aug 20, 2008 11:25 am haywgl We are deleting the rear garage door replacing with bricks, deleting the exterior garage door and replacing with bricks and also changing the large upstairs games room window to a long high window like in the other bedrooms... We thought about changing the rumpus window upstairs due to the glazing we couldn't as the light % factor thing wasn't enough going by the 5* people. Makes sense to change yours seeing as it's going to be a bedroom. We got a credit for the window we deleted in the rumpus and paid nothing to change the larger sliding window in the meals to a smaller 1m wide awning one. I can't remember what the charge was for the increase in the width in the family room but it wasn't much. Happy at Home Re: Has anyone varied a facade on a PD home 10Aug 20, 2008 11:34 am Thanks Toni
In the garage door we will have the internal one into the house, but we are deleting the one that opens at the rear of the garage onto the backyard... We don't really see a point to having it..and we thought it would pose a bit of a security risk if someone broke in and then drove off with our cars We are deleting the exterior laundry door and replacing with a window - again we wouldn't use this door as the clothesline will be on the other side of the house.... Hmm I wonder if the window in the upstairs games room will effect our 5* rating....PD actually suggested that change to us.... I'm glad there wasn't huge costs associated with yours, I'm hoping for the same with us My karma ran over your dogma Re: Has anyone varied a facade on a PD home 11Aug 20, 2008 12:11 pm haywgl Thanks Toni In the garage door we will have the internal one into the house, but we are deleting the one that opens at the rear of the garage onto the backyard... Was abit confused with the two garage doors You might find seeing as the room is going to be made smaller with the walls for the 5th bedroom that the window will be okay. The % of light we would have had for the rumpus as it was was not enough. We just scraped it in by 0.1% for Benjamin's window as that had to be reduced from 514mm to 400mm (in order for the glass to be clear). I think you will be fine with a long high one for a bedroom size. Just with deleting the rear garage door what about getting a wheelbarrow or gardening equipment to the backyard? And also with deleting the laundry door am I right in remembering that you are planning a pool? I would leave the laundry door in so that kids can go this way to the toilet without dragging chlorinated water through the house. Also this door will be handy for muddy little boys. Straight into the laundry, clothes off wipe them down in there. I'd think about leaving both doors in if I was you. Tell me to bugger off now if you like.... Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Has anyone varied a facade on a PD home 13Aug 20, 2008 8:01 pm Jo - As if I would ever tell you to bugger off
I appreciate your input silly You do bring up some great points. The rear garage door we really don't need we would never need to bring a wheel barrow or garedning equipment (other than a watering can) out through there because we are having fake grass and native plants that don't need much care, we aren't great gardeners Also we have wide sideways on either side if we do need to bring something like that or have tradies etc coming, they can just go out the main garage entrance and around the side entrance (a bit of exercise won't kill anyone ) Also we are putting a basketball hoop and half court backing onto the rear garage wall so the door in the middle would spoil the whole set-up.... With the laundry door - I really do thin you bring up a good point with regards to wet kids running through the home, however, we are still not 100% sure we are getting a pool and if we do, the kids will just have to learn to dry off before they go inside (don't we all wee in the pool anyway ) We will be having a window in there for natural light, but when I way up the amount of times we think we would use it - we really don't see the point in having it there. I really do appreciate you taking the time to post t me Jo Who knows if the quote comes back to high for doing the above changes then we will just leave it as it - its a win win for us really My karma ran over your dogma Re: Has anyone varied a facade on a PD home 14Aug 20, 2008 8:11 pm [quote="haywgl" (don't we all wee in the pool anyway )
[/quote] Did I really say you could come for a swim in OUR pool????!!!! Loving the idea of the half court on the back of the garage! We're having a roller door on the back of ours, so we can't do that.....might have to come over to your place for a gameof basket ball!.....I promise we won't wee on your court!!!!! At swimming today Mia was swimming with Mark, while I was doing Kobe's lesson with him, I heard her yell from across the other side of the pool 'DAD PEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!' Everyone was looking it was so funny Needless to say the area around her cleared pretty quick Yeah we like the basketball idea, we are getting quotes for that basketball rubber surface too - Mark reckons a blue court would look cool My karma ran over your dogma Re: Has anyone varied a facade on a PD home 16Aug 20, 2008 8:19 pm haywgl Mark reckons a blue court would look cool Well, let's face it ,anything's better than a brown & yellow court!!!
