Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 12, 2017 11:08 pm With my site scraped this week I thought it was time to start my own thread rather than just hanging around others! This is my first time building a house. I'm building a small 3 bedroom house in SE Melbourne, on a 350sqm corner block. I bought the land in July 2016. Was meant to settle September 2016, but finally titled & settled in April 2017. Site was scraped this week sometime, and I now have temp fencing and a porta loo. Builder is telling me 16 week build time, which is much shorter than my contract, so I guess we will see! Who are you building with, 16weeks is nice and quick, it will fly by. Re: First build in SE Melbourne 5May 13, 2017 1:56 pm Great to see! Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81011 Re: First build in SE Melbourne 6May 13, 2017 2:10 pm Woohoo! Great to see your thread. I will be following. Also congrats on finally starting your build!! 16 weeks is a fantastic time frame, all the best. I really like your floorplan, I think that plan would have even fit my block.. I like that bed 3 could also easily be a study. I love the extra large pantry in the kitchen. I get the feeling from your selections that you like darker colours? I can't wait to see what it all looks like. Re: First build in SE Melbourne 7May 13, 2017 4:33 pm aloenyx Woohoo! Great to see your thread. I will be following. I can't wait to see what it all looks like. Bed 3 will become my study there's only me, so bed 2 will be a spare bedroom near the main bathroom and bed 3 will be the study. I can't wait to have the walk in pantry! I actually didn't want dark colours inside, I wanted light grey tiles but all of the options were too green or brown. So I went a charcoal colour instead. My furniture is all going to be light. And we have the exact same stools. I love them and the price is so good. I saw very similar ones at Freedom, but had a double bar through the middle (actually thought the Kmart ones look better) and they were $200+ each. Re: First build in SE Melbourne 9May 19, 2017 6:53 pm Well went past after work today, and nothing has really happened in a week. There is now a rubbish bin, water taps and they have spray painted the scraped site. Hopefully I'm next for plumbing. The same builder has just done 2 others plumbing in the same street, so I'm hoping I'm next. There's a house just down the street that started 4 weeks ago. It's at lockup, bricks finished, plastered, painted and has cabinetry. I can't believe it! I want their builder Re: First build in SE Melbourne 11May 27, 2017 11:04 am Just been down to visit my land. All of the pipe work has been done and I have temp power. There are 3 houses from the same builder that have just had slabs done, and workmen there starting frames. Hopefully I have a slab this week 🤞🤞🤞 Re: First build in SE Melbourne 12May 27, 2017 11:24 am Hi Monique! Our site was scraped the same week as yours - so it will be good to follow another build that (hopefully) progresses at the same time. Although tots has been delayed... And I love that you're a single woman doing this yourself Go girl! X Re: First build in SE Melbourne 13May 27, 2017 11:38 am Hi Mrs W Thanks for reading my short thread, I didn't think anyone would read it Do you have a thread I can follow? Would be awesome to keep up with a build at the same time as mine! Re: First build in SE Melbourne 14May 27, 2017 1:14 pm I do. And a blog. It's in my signature but not sure it if shows up on Tapatalk??? At the rate mine is going, you'll be in well before me. It seems the developer forgot to connect water to our lot. Western water were out there this morning trying to find it and couldn't do have started digging up the neighbours nature strip. Re: First build in SE Melbourne 17Jun 01, 2017 6:11 am I'm not really sure. I'm about 45 mins away from there at the moment so I can't go down during the week really. There's been a bit of rain round this week so I'm hoping it hasn't delayed things too much! Re: First build in SE Melbourne 18Jun 02, 2017 5:37 pm Slab must have happened this week because I just received the invoice for base stage this afternoon. They don't muck around when they want money! Re: First build in SE Melbourne 19Jun 02, 2017 7:23 pm Congrats on slab!!! Haha, yeah they are quick to request money XD Did they send you any photos? My builder sends photos with invoices. Are you going down to have a look over the weekend? Re: First build in SE Melbourne 20Jun 02, 2017 9:15 pm Didn't get any photos. I wasn't going to go down but my sister wants to go, she hasn't seen it since before the land was finished. I will probably go down with her and my niece and nephew tomorrow. hi guys. Please be nice.
