Oh look at that. Looking good. Yep definitely a house now rather than just a block. ah yes your postie, lol He was in the right place at the right time. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 225Nov 17, 2017 4:02 pm Framing is completed - well almost. As the roof trusses were just about done this morning, I contacted our Henley admin,to find out when I should book the slab\frame inspection as I still didn't have a response from my txt sent to my SS on Monday. She was advised by our construction manager, that I can book anytime Tuesday. Have contacted Darbecca and all their inspectors are fully booked so inspection will be Wednesday, pending Henley to confirm time or if all day is still doable. When contacting Henley I found out that my SS is on annual leave, nice of them to communicate this. I'm wondering if they would have contact me to advise that I can book my next inspection, if I hadn't reached out. I'm really not impressed with Henley's communicate skills and have to say that at least their trades are on the ball. Maybe that is what they rely on. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Anyways......I'll just rely on updates from my postie. Happy weekend everyone Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 226Nov 17, 2017 5:04 pm Looks fantastic. Oh what a shame about the poor communication )o: It’s not that hard for them to send an email advising of his absence. Hope the inspection goes well for you. I was chatting withing my contact at the inspectors and she was saying how good our SS is, lol. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 227Nov 17, 2017 5:21 pm To me communication is the base for any business that you run or are involved with. Looks like I'm just going to have to project manage this now as there is no trust anymore that they will be in contact with me. The pre-pour inspection only had minor issues and I'm hoping that the slab\framing goes the same way. The chippys that have been doing the framing, have worked their butts off and we know from our own measurements that the rooms are near perfect, size wise. We'll find out sooner enough how good they are on Wednesday. I think that a good SS is the key to a good build. Our Simonds SS that we had for our investment property I can't speak highly enough about him. We were told by our inspector that it was one of the best builds that he had reviewed. I can only pray that this one is in the same league. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 228Nov 20, 2017 5:47 pm I love getting deliveries to the house, whilst not from the Postie - he did tell me that that delivery truck was onsite.
Windows, some door frames, external doors (not front door), and sliders delivered today. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm gutted that we have to have the opaque windows - especially as two of the rooms are the kids rooms. Just loving watch the house come to life, day by day 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 229Nov 20, 2017 6:02 pm Woohoo. Windows and doors. Oh the kids rooms overlooking neighbours? Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 230Nov 20, 2017 6:16 pm Yeah - unfortunately they do..... We are one house back from the corner so the side of our house overlooks three backyards. Guess the upside is that we don't need sheers on their windows, just blackouts. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 231Nov 20, 2017 6:27 pm Now that the house is progressing the time has come to look at furniture. The furniture that we have is due for a refresh. It has lasted two babies, that are now teenagers and we are ready to say good bye to two lounge suites. Hubby is in love with proper English Chesterfield lounge suites in leather. But I find this too masculine for the main open floor kitchen, dining and family room, so have conceded that these can go into the upstairs lounge. I do like the button look so have been hunting for the more feminine Chesterfields. We have been to Plush but the seat is just to deep for our liking Found these from Brosa.... Just tolerating the lounge till the house is ready then get new ones. Haven’t really thought much about what to get yet. We’ll probably use the Christmas holidays to go looking. We also promised the girls upgrades from single beds to double. Oh yo haven’t picked flooring yet? what are you thinking? Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 234Nov 20, 2017 6:49 pm You're in the same boat as us, more and more each day. It makes me laugh at the similarities. I'm getting my two, King Singles. as a double is the same length as a queen and single bed. My son has shoot past me (I'm 5'8") in the last couple of months, by a good couple of inches, will just have to bear with his feet hanging out. We choose to do flooring after handover as we can get better quality, cheaper than going through Henley. Finally decided on laminate downstairs, hubby yet to decide what he wants in the theatre as this is play room, and wants a pool table. Upstairs will be dog free so all carpet. We have wooden stairs so that will bridge the change in flooring nicely. We have been to a few places in the last couple of weekends but are a little stuck on choices. I've got some samples of what we at are looking at but will take pics later and post. Time to walk the hounds before they go totally nuts Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 235Nov 20, 2017 8:35 pm Rachael13 You're in the same boat as us, more and more each day. Right down to 2 kids and 2 dogs, lol Ah yes, king singles do sound better in that case. The girls aren't tall or short. So hopefully they'll be fine with doubles. We thought about leaving flooring till after too but then decided to do it. We'll have enough to do after the build, fencing, driveway, window furnishing etc. We've gone with tiles in the main living area's and wet rooms. We thought about wood but thought the dogs might scratch it. Tiles are easy to clean. Carpet in the bedrooms and second living/pool room, lol Hoping to keep the dogs off the carpet except in Miss 13's room. One of the dogs is hers and sleeps with her. Very spoilt dog. Wooden stairs sound nice. A real feature. I've only just started thinking about Christmas. I'm usually all organised by now. Hoping to get that out of the way and then get stuck in to furniture shopping. We also need a new washer, dryer and a dish washer. Hubby will be focused on pool table shopping I'm sure, lol. Haven't decided what we want lounge wise yet other than neutral colour and maybe enough space underneath to sweep or vacuum without moving them all the time. OMG dog hair does my head in. When is your slab and frame inspection? Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 236Nov 21, 2017 6:04 am Only a short 5 min walk for me, hubby and our daughter took the dogs for their long walk last night.. I couldn't do tiles all the way through as we have them here in the rental in just the kitchen, and they were so cold over winter. As for the dogs, we had laminate in the house before we demo'd and this was a cheap version that lasted very nicely for 13yrs, dogs didn't scratch it up and they went nuts thru the house every morning when we let them in. We had a couple of chips, Tonka toys and laminate don't go together but we just re-sealed the chips every few months with clear nail polish. I had last week off work as I've pull the tendon in my foot on one side and strained the ligament on the other side, was a lovely shade of purple black a few days back. So as I had to keep my foot elevated for the week, I took advantage of online Christmas shopping and am getting deliveries this week as I'm working from home. The joy is that I have to find hidey holes as the kids treasure hunt, one day they will figure out that things are hidden in the roof space. LOL. Ah fur - yep - we have two German Shepherds, or should I say German Shedders. We vac every other day and at the moment the doggies are brushed the alternate days to vaccuming. This is just the back room where we have matts down and laundry as the dogs aren't permitted in the lounge or bedrooms as it is hardwood flooring Can't wait to have them back in house fully with us. Ok so I took a pic for some of our choices for flooring. I'm loving the salt & pepper carpets so I'm leaning towards the one on the right and for laminate, the middle one is in front as it will add warmth as all our colours are grays but we need to find one in 12mm not the 10mm. But whilst we have decided on what we like, we now have to look at further pricing. All from Western Distributors Top left carpet is Urban Image Top right carpet is Metropol Marble Laminate left is Aualin Natural Laminate middle is Dunlop heartridge Sunset Haze Laminate right is Aualin Wenge Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Nearly forgot to add - Slab\Frame inspection is Wednesday. Time to get organised and boot up my work laptop. Have a great day and I hope that your framers are there. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 237Nov 21, 2017 6:42 am I'm a bit concerned about tiles being cold in winter. A positive they are also cool in summer. Ahhh we had crappy OLD laminate tiles in the old house. They were my nightmare. Now days they are much better and being new like you said you can look after them. Ouch. Hope you're on the mend. Handy to be able to work from home. I started doing some online shopping yesterday. Wasn't really motivated so will try again today if I get a chance. There's a couple of things they have asked for that I can get from the local shopping centre so that's handy. Awwww poor puppies. Hopefully not long. Nice flooring choices. The carpet on the right is nice. Hard choice with the laminate. They all look great. Oh inspection tomorrow, woohoo. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 238Nov 21, 2017 4:41 pm Just get loads of rugs for winter and then pull them up in the warmer months, I just couldn't handle the cold tiles in the kitchen as I hate shoes and so this was a no go discussion. Mind you hubby did try to push it, plus the floor is just to hard for me. Did you shop? I have received deliveries today 😈😈😈 and they have been hidden. This is one good thing about being in the rental - hubby doesn't deliver the mail here and I can sneak packages in without them being delivered to him personally, best if things are over a certain size as they then come via Postie in a van and not on the bike. We have gutters installed this morning. 5 mins after receiving the photos, I got a call from Darbecca checking if they can come at 8am for the inspection instead of 10:30am, perfect timing. Asked if they were concerned for the gutters to be installed and if it would impede the inspection tomorrow, was relieved that this is not an issue and not to be concern. So now I'm wondering what will be installed tomorrow, or will Henley hold off and not do anything until tomorrow. I'm not visiting the house tonight but definitely going tomorrow afternoon. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 239Nov 21, 2017 8:15 pm I’m not a fan of the cold so I usually wear socks or moccasins anyway. Lol Yeah planning for a couple of rugs. Didn’t manage to achieve much in the way of Christmas shopping. Was looking online for a tshirt Miss 11 wanted. Couldn’t find it but found one for hubby. So at least I achieved something. Was a bit distracted. Took my 14 year old dachshund to the vet. He’s not doing great. Oh lol. Hiding parcels from postie hubby. Wow sounds like things are moving ahead at a good pace with your build. So exciting. Before you know it bricks will be going up. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean38 - FRAMING 240Nov 22, 2017 5:44 am Oh I sorry to hear one of your fur babies is not doing well. I hope that everything turns out for the best We said good-bye to our old lady cat who was 15 in July, it's heartbreaking as they are family too. Add rugs to the long list of what to buy when moving in Yep more hiding from the Postie today as there is another delivery coming...... There is only a couple more deliveries to go and I'm done. Have to say that things are under the bed at the moment as I can get up on the step ladder as yet to get things into the roof space, should be good in a few more days. Inspection today and I'm disappointed that I can't get to the site this morning as I have an 8am conf call. Will just have to wait for the report from Darbecca and also the daily Postie report.
