Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean 38. Fitoff! 401Mar 05, 2018 7:12 pm Bri - I flew past the house today on the way home and there were tradies everywhere!!!! There was about 6 cars around the front of the property. Once I pulled into the front of the house, blocking the car on the nature strip at the front, (I know evil), I had one of the plasters let me know that the SS had just left. I did ask if I could go in and nosey around. Asked if the tiler was onsite and got a big grin from him. told me he was downstairs. So I took full advantage and ran straight to the tiler. WOW is all I can say. I only took a couple of pics but the tiling is AMAZING. The tiler was so proud of his work, and I told him that its a brilliant job that he's doing. He was just finishing up on the downstairs niche but with the sun streaming into that bathroom the photo does not do justice. I love the tiling and thrilled with how it looks with the different tiles together. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I didn't get a full pic of the bathroom as I didn't want to hold up the tiler - LOL Also need to take the pic in the morning, when it's not so glary. Kitchen tiles are in Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And the coloured render is up on the top floor. First photo was taken early this morning and the 2nd one is from when I was at the site. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not sure what else was happening onsite as there were tradies everywhere, upstairs and on the scaffolding on the outside bottom of the house. After checking out the tiles, I did a runner and didn't check out anything else. I really didn't want to get under their feet. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean 38. Fitoff! 402Mar 05, 2018 7:20 pm Ooooooowwwww nice. Loving the tiles. They look fantastic. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean 38. Fitoff! 403Mar 05, 2018 7:36 pm Bri1234 Ooooooowwwww nice. Loving the tiles. They look fantastic. Thanks ❤️❤️❤️- we just wanted the tiles to be simple, and then we can layer anyway we want or leave it minimalistic. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean 38. Fitoff! 404Mar 05, 2018 8:01 pm Same. We went very neutral and we’ll brighten it up with mats etc Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean 38. Considering we initially were looking at a rebuilding a single level of about 21sq to this now being 38sq, it is a little overwhelming. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean 38. Think of all that space you'll have. I'm so excited for you. Ours is going to be 29sq including garage so roughly 23sq living space. Which isn't huge until you consider the house we demolished was like 12 sq, lol. This rental is roughly the same as the old house in size too. Having so much extra space is going to be fantastic. Will have to go back next week and see what we missed. I'm thinking that this could be our new thing that hubby and I do together on a weekend. I really can think of a much better way to spend an hour together Again - we found that the garage door was not only opened but completely off - happy days. Of course with no door this means an open invite to view the house. Kitchen tiles have been grouted and I love it.... So pleased that we choose the darker grey, the tiles really stand out. As the SS knew that we were coming onsite, I'm presuming that they weren't turn on yet. Looks like the bricks didn't get washed on Friday - will have to ask the SS about this. Please share pics for windows coverings - I have no clue and now Hubby is think of plantation shutters with black out curtains for night, for all the front windows only . Let me know your thoughts on this Got to love a long weekend - all the chores are done so tomorrow is a chill out day. Happy Building everyone! KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean 38. We’ve spent a small fortune on weed killer while waiting for the block to title and during the build. Your facade looks awesome, did you get lights for the eaves above the garage door? Because we’ve got 3 windows for the WIR we’re going for plantation shutter for the front and sheers/blockout for the Master balcony doors. Similar to the display photos. Wish we'd thought of that for the laundry tiles. I think we're going to have to go to the weed killer thing too. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hi Firsttime - we have lights on the front pillars and a spot light on the right-hand corner of the garage, but no lights in the outside eaves. I didn't realise how much the dressing room would hang over the garage until they put the cladding on. Funny how much I have studied the plans and missed that - lol. As we have live on this block for 18years, we know the joy of weeding the fenceline and have a 5ltr pump bottle that we add Roundup Powermax to with water, so the worst bit is having to keep pumping the sprayer, and thank goodness it's only one refill. It keeps cost down this way for at least weeded. We have started to plan out the garden, and wonder if we can talk our SS into letting us start on back garden. We know that we have about 28m x 9m of backyard and are hoping to get a jump on getting the major lawn in before we have to move in the dogs, guessing there is no harm at asking. We were on pinterest last night and I think that we have locked in Plantation shutters, with blockout curtains for the upstairs front windows, as we still want a dark bedroom and as the house is North facing, it will only assist in summer of keeping the heat out. Downstairs front windows will be plantation shutters, with softer linen curtains, as we don't need the blackout down there but who knows with the first summer this may change. I like the mix of sheers and Planation shutters as per the pic you posted but hubby wants it all the same. I'm wondering if he will change his mind when he sees what it's going cost. I'm thinking that we are looking at 15k for window coverings, now that Plantation shutters have been thrown into the mix, and this doesn't include the security shutters that hubby wants for the back windows. Thank goodness for savings...... Please keep sharing your ideas. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean 38. Fitoff! 414Mar 12, 2018 11:19 am Bri1234 Looks fantastic Rachael. Loving the grout for the kitchen tiles. Wish we'd thought of that for the laundry tiles. I think we're going to have to go to the weed killer thing too. After all the work we did the other weekend the fence still hasn't gone up and the grass/weeds are coming back. Bri - I love the wavy subway tiles and just didn't want to lose the lines in the grout, so was interested when the colour consultant recommended the dark grey grout. You know later down the track you can remove your grout and re-do it, it's not that hard but just time consuming. Grout also comes pre-mixed so much easier than having to mix and try to get the colour right between batches. Weed killer is so much easier in a garden sprayer. You can use the sprayer with weed killer or liquid fertilizer, just really clean it out with each water based chemical. You don't want to be fertilizing the weeds. Do you have a confirmed date for you final review? I think from memory your SS is going on leave so wanted this before he left? You must be really really close to this day - so exciting Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean 38. Fitoff! 415Mar 12, 2018 12:38 pm Rachael13 Bri1234 Looks fantastic Rachael. Thanks Blackcat - I'm not that good with putting colours together so really pleased that it doesn't clash. Once upon a time our block was lovely and level and weed free, just after we demolished the house. Now....... sigh - it's a nightmare. I could not believe the amount of bottles, beer, soft drink and energy that were hiding in the grass. There was a cardboard box full of empty stubbies. Guess there were Friday arvo drinks on more than one occasion at our place for the tradies. This is now all sorted and in the builders bin - not sure why they can't pick up after themselves. Was just checking your thread - looks like you have had a up and down journey. I hope that you get everything sorted and can move to construction soon. Re: KDR - Henley Reserve (MainVue) - Aegean 38. Fitoff! 420Mar 16, 2018 5:32 pm We've had tradies in the house all week but with the camera installed it's a no go zone after 6pm - sign. Hubby was onsite on Wednesday to get some quotes for concreting and for a wrap around pergola, at least on two sides of the house. He is not a very good spy - no photos and didn't even go inside. Sigh....... Painters have been on site all week so dying to see the progress and colours of course. Tomorrow we are back to the house to get another concreting quote, and I'm making sure that I go with hubby. Rang a few places to get quotes for window covering but had no call back to arrange timings. Will ring a few more tomorrow morning and see if I get some bites. I was hoping that I could get blinds, curtains and shutters from the same vendor but these ones haven't call me back, might have to break this out to multi vendors, not ideal but hey - I'm not moving in with sheets up! LOL We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37142 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19097 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13444 |
