He was short some sheets for the wet areas which only arrived today, so just some sanding to go I think, maybe another coat on those bits too, I don't know, kinda losing interest at this point knowing that the kitchen has been held up. Seriously, if we have one, he's never been here. Probably cause we're out of town. It was the lady in the office I spoke to last week, and she didn't even ring the kitchen place to find out how ours was going, she's building as well and just said that hers was delayed by 4 weeks because of ceasarstone supply issues, so there's no way ours will be before hers. Re: Katrina's 2nd home build - Gympie 165Nov 09, 2017 7:23 pm Urban. She has probably picked some high end hoity toity **** that no one actually likes but is a status symbol because it's more expensive, lol. Or so I'm telling myself. I don't know what else to do to find out if ours is on track if the builder won't call the kitchen company, and instead base their info on what they've been told for another build. Re: Katrina's 2nd home build - Gympie 167Nov 10, 2017 7:43 pm Got an update from the builder today. They have reevaluated their schedules, and still have us down for completion the week before Christmas. There is a hold up on the kitchen. It will be installed the week beginning the 4th of December. So in the meantime, the chippies will be back next week for doors, archs and skirts, and I think they fit the vanities too because they're builder supplied. Then the following week is painters and tilers. The water tanks and sewerage treatment plant should go in during the first week of December. Re: Katrina's 2nd home build - Gympie 171Nov 12, 2017 6:44 am Ok, so I have a question. As we have a window in the shower recess in the main bathroom (which we did on purpose because it's built out under the eaves so will have a bulkhead and we were worried about steam not efficiently going out over the shower screen and creating mould, which we have seen at my inlaws place), i expect the window reveal will be tiled, i would have thought this would be obvious given it's in the shower. Hubby reckons the builder will still do wooden architraves around and only tile up to them. Now i'm stressing about water sitting in the window reveal and just rotting all the timber. I saw on RachM's metricon build that they have tiled the window reveal up to the height of her tiles, then square set the rest. And that window is heaps higher than ours (we aren't worried about privacy cause we're out in the bush and there's no one to be able to see in the window even if you shower with it open) so I would think that ours would be more of an issue with water affecting it. When should i ask the builder, wait and see this week if architraves get put on it? I am not paying extra for it to be tiled, in my opinion this is something that should just be included given the position of the window, and the builder should have had provision for it right from the start, cause it's always been on the plan. Doors have arrived and they've made a start on the door jams. Any progress is better than coming home to see nothing at all done. How exciting. Tiles have arrived. Architraves all done, doors all hung, some even have door hardware (would've thought they'd leave that until after painting???), most skirting is on, and waterproofing done. What a productive day we've had. Notice my waterproofing around the whole shower window H? Re: Katrina's 2nd home build - Gympie 180Nov 16, 2017 5:46 pm The builder sent me some photos, and got a much better one of the waterproofing in the main bathroom than I could get. I couldn't get it without all the glare coming in the window. So glad the whole reveal is being tiled.
