Curiosity got the better of me, after 2 days of restraining myself, i opened a box of the floor tiles. I hadn't seen them since the brief look we had at them at colour selections (yes i'm a twit and didn't take a photo) and just knew they were the ones. And i had the same reaction looking at them today. Took one into the bathroom and sat on the floor, and they look nice and dark. Love them. That has made me feel a bit better. So because tiling has been delayed, painters will go in this week, tiling next week. Then i think things will happen very quickly at the start of December, cause that's when the tanks, treatment plant and kitchen are all supposed to be happening. So I guess after all that is done it will just be plumbing and electrical fitoffs, flooring, appliances, blinds and flyscreens. Am I missing anything? I also had great news today that PCI will be the 8th and handover on the 18th or 19th. It will be a mad rush to get everything in and have xmas in our new home. So jealous of you and Katrina, our house is only 20 squares and we are up to final plumbing and electrical fit out and our SS still has not mentioned a date at all. Since the beginning the question has been avoided. Hoping we get in by Christmas or we will be broke. Paying out full mortgage atm and rent is killing us. (fingers crossed for some good news for us). So happy for you both. The painter just called and asked if I'm SURE I want shale grey interior walls? He said it's gonna be really dark. Hubby said to stick with my first instinct and if it's awful he will repaint it for me. Oh no, maybe I should have told the painter half strength? But I haven't seen it half strength, it might throw completely different tones in half strength. I think I just need to calm down and wait to see how it looks. Doesn't look that dark to me with the white trims. I just don't know now, second guessing the whole decision now. Hi Katrina, I am sure it won't be too dark with all of the windows and the orientation of your home it will change the lighting. If you really want to change it later on it's no permanent fixture so I would stick with your original decision Re: Katrina's 2nd home build - Gympie 191Nov 21, 2017 7:33 pm Hudson House KatrinaH Omg, I'm freaking out now. The fumes are so intense that I could only walk half the house. My eyes were watering and it was difficult to breathe. I have a new found respect for painters. I know they would wear protective gear, but wow. It is under a carport, and yes, that is my open air shower behind it, lol. Have I told you all how much I am hanging out for a descent shower? Lucky I am a country girl at heart, and know how to use a twin tub, lol. I haven't used one since an ancient one was gifted to me when I first moved out with my husband at 16. Now I know why I never bought another one....it sux. They have changed the style of vinyl plank flooring since our colour selections. The top one is what we chose, the bottom is the replacement. I hate it. They have offered for us to reselect, so I asked for some samples to take home for a night, cause it's so hard for us both to get there at the same time. Hopefully they come up with something nicer than that. We have shale grey walls with white on white trims, so was looking for something warm but not too orange/red. It's hard to photograh because of the glare coming in the windows which makes it look really dark in the pics. In real life it's absolutely beautiful. I love it. We selected our new flooring today too. I don't love it, but options were pretty limited in the standard range. Really p*ssed off now that the one I had selected was no longer available. But I'll withhold my full judgement until I see it laid. At this point in time, a floor is a floor, I just want to be in our new house, no matter what it looks like, lol.
