Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 04, 2017 8:06 pm Hi I have just embarked on the journey of finding a good builder. We are on the Sunshine Coast and looking for someone to build a acreage home for us. I have so far spoken with Stroud's, Mclachlan Homes and McDonald Jones. Stroud and Mclachlan were pretty flexible about changing plans and had a quick build time however McDonald Jones quoted twice the the amount of time and were much less flexible about changing plans to suit our needs. The McDonald Jones display home was by far my favourite but they won't even let you look at the finishes to choose from until you have signed up. They don't include flooring either. Stroud's standard finishes are pretty standard and I worry how much all the upgrades will cost. Can anyone recommend a good builder please? There isn't much information on Mclachlan homes in reviews or on here. Can anyone give me any feedback on them please? Re: Finding a Builder 2May 04, 2017 10:08 pm Hi Jk004 McDonald Jones have 3 magnificent acreage homes on display in NSW They are certainly one of the more popular builders of acreage homes and Im sure if you read their blogs on this website you will read many good and less not so good acknowledgements of their work on the bigger homes ..There are some great acreage photos of Brontes and their new Hermitage designs sprinkled through this web site . We have been through their Sydney My Choice Studio a couple of times and can only say they were very professional what seemed to be interior decorators assisting and appeared to have upgrades to suit all pockets. We were even provided with lunch and a bottle of champagne when we finished !! We spent $3000 in there the people doing their selections at the same time were on their 5th home spent 150K ... they wanted everything !! They have a good My Choice video on YouTube ... all the best with looking for a builder... I did notice you are in Qsland Re: Finding a Builder 3Jun 15, 2017 8:48 pm We built with McLachlan Homes and really wish we didn't. We got a nice home but it was non stop fighting the whole way. Two foreman quit during our build and we were left with no one to talk to. There were so many issues that needed fixing and the bloke that came to fix them caused more damage than he fixed. Their design service was excellent but everything after was rubbish. Wish I never walked in to their display homes. Re: Finding a Builder 4Jul 21, 2020 5:00 pm I just saw this post and thought i would share my experience. im a repeat customer of mclachlans, we built our first house back in 2010 just to get into the market for our first home. The contract was fixed price, the sale consultant was very helpful and we ended up with a design we loved within our budget. Our construction process was quick, with a few speed bumps but all the team were very helpful and our supervisor was very knowledgeable. Fast forward to 2020, we were able to meet with the same sales guy and design or forever home. We have just recently completed the home, moved in about a month ago. We were pleasantly surprised to have some of the same team members help with our new home. i couldn't recommend them enough, high quality, straight shooting and none of those bullsh@t free inclusions you know you have to pay for anyway. Hi Kateo, Are you able to spare any of the tiles? Thanks Tony 10 11545 in the stormwater pit or the drain? Those dont look like theyd fit in the drain. Separately, the pits do get stuff in them during the course of the build. For the most… 1 8055 |
