Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 04, 2017 10:25 am Hi All! We are just about to start our second build in Mt Barker We've got a 1025sqm block in a small estate where we first built (previously with m3tricon) I loved this forum last time and found quite a few neighbours and friends so soo happy to still see some locals on here!! We signed all our papers and did our selections just before christmas and have had all of our approvals for about a week now and are just waiting on our builder (gall3ry living) to release us to construction We customised one of their plans to suit us as we wanted a playroom near the living room that we could easily convert into a 4th bedroom down the track and also wanted a proper WIP and large island, also wanted to be able to have a double shower in our ensuite again Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Current Build with Gall3ry Living https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87680 First Build Thread : Our Mt Barker Build @ The Grove Re: Doing it Again! Our second Mt Barker Build 3May 04, 2017 2:00 pm Congratulation! We are just about to be RTC in Strathalbyn. Unfortunately the blocks in Mt Barker weren't flat enough for us. I love the idea with the playroom/4th bedroom. Also love how far away the main bedroom is from the playroom!! Re: Doing it Again! Our second Mt Barker Build 4May 05, 2017 12:13 pm Thanks shellu Yes Ckfd funnily enough ours has quite a large drop but majority is in the drive and we just couldn't look past the size of the block for the price (needed a quick sale) and we really missed all our neighbours! We actually looked at strath but I've always lived in the city and I just couldn't deal with the extra drive! Our second Mt Barker Build 5May 05, 2017 12:14 pm Our Selections: Kids Bathroom Grey Floor Tiles and bath hob with white walls Timber laminex run horizontally with gloss white bench - down the track we are going to make some concrete benches for the ensuite and main bath ) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ensuite Same dark grey floor tile also runs up the back wall of the double shower Lighter grey everywhere else same vanity set up as other bathroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Standard toilet pic Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Middle mixer for kids showers - my 2 yr old is obsessed with these Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Paint colour with all other samples - paint colour was my biggest disappointment and I'm still not that happy about it - apparently because of the recycled finish to their new gyp this is the lightest paint colour they will guarantee just hoping it doesn't come off too beige or hubby will be repainting the house as we are going for soft greys and black! Outside of the house is mainly surfimist however master bedroom will be woodland grey as will the roof didn't want to complicate the outside too much as we have a lot of different claddings going on which is slightly freaking me out hopefully it doesn't look too white but I want it to be nice and clean and have a load of planting to soften it up Silver window frames Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen Stone - oyster caesertsone 40mm with waterfall edges Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The laminex for our bathroom vanities Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Front door - again nothing special/wasn't that stoked but went ahead with this door in woodland grey Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen bench and cabinet colour Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ LOVE!!!! my kitchen tap Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and my monaco undermount that I missed out on on our last build so couldn't go past this time around! Our second Mt Barker Build - RTC 10May 09, 2017 12:14 pm Woohoo just got the message that we have been released to construction today! :-D hopefully not long now until we get going Unfortunately our shed approval hasn't come through yet so god knows how we will get that done as access to the back corner is difficult once the house starts so we were hoping to get the approval and slab down before we started - oops - oh well only about 100ish barrow loads for hubby Current Build with Gall3ry Living https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87680 First Build Thread : Our Mt Barker Build @ The Grove Re: Doing it Again! Our second Mt Barker Build - earthworks 12May 16, 2017 11:50 am and Earthworks have begun! Shot up the hill yesterday to try get the boys to do a couple of extra bits for us so took some pics while we were there! Was cool to see the early works instead of just seeing the trenches all dug at this stage we are hoping maybe to be slapped towards the end of next week Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Current Build with Gall3ry Living https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87680 First Build Thread : Our Mt Barker Build @ The Grove Re: Doing it Again! Our second Mt Barker Build 13May 16, 2017 12:15 pm Hopefully the weather holds out for you! So cool to see the earthworks themselves rather than the "pre-slab trenches". Re: Doing it Again! Our second Mt Barker Build 14May 18, 2017 12:41 pm Currently trying to track down pricing on retaining walls! haha got some pics from a landscaper of the wall we need that goes up our drive Slightly concerned about the neighbours' fence on top of the retaining and the possibility of it falling over if we get some nasty weather and wind like we always do in Barker Can already hear the coins falling out of our pockets We will be going up on the weekend to take a look ourselves but thankfully he sent me some images! Not sure how much retaining we're going to need to do (thankfully no cut and fill near the boundaries), but need to be prepared just in case! Re: Doing it Again! Our second Mt Barker Build 17May 29, 2017 9:59 am Went and had a look on the weekend our trenches had been dug and had deliveries of our plastic, reo etc have been told the plastic is down today and should have a slab this week Have almost booked the landscaper in also so timeline this far all going to plan Slab this week Drive retaining next week Rock walls along side and back of house and septic week after (because of the limited access around the house we have to let the slab cure for a week to get the machinery on it for the septic and rocks etc) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our little man LOVED running down the massive dirt batter at the back of the house - couldn't dare to tell him it won't be staying like that! Our second Mt Barker Build SLAB 19Jun 05, 2017 1:45 pm Went up to the block on the weekend to check out the slab - love the shape of it it's something we always liked was all the little cut ins - decking will be going there when the house is done Heading back out tonight to see the landscaper and finalise all the retaining etc which should be starting this week, septic is booked in for Monday and then frames will start as soon as our landscaper is done! - because we had to build so wide because of an easment we have to get all the landscaping done now once the slab is cured and before the frame goes up as we have pretty much no access after that! We also got ourselves a tank on the weekend and dragged it down the back Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Current Build with Gall3ry Living https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87680 First Build Thread : Our Mt Barker Build @ The Grove Re: Doing it Again!
