Really glad it all worked out in the end but man if that happened to me I would of ripped them a new one. Really glad it all worked out in the end but man if that happened to me I would of ripped them a new one. Yeah I was pretty baffled to be honest. I was more annoyed at the fact that they wouldn't really give me a reason for doing so, they just kept dodging the question and just said it was policy and 'industry standard'. Wasn't until I called head office and spoke to a manager there that I got a reason as to why, and even then I had to hassle as he was also dodging the question and the reason I got sounded like complete BS. From the research I've done though, it sounds like a lot of builders follow this practice, but not all. I know Porter Davis do this also. I really cannot think of any reason to do it other than to lock someone in before they have a chance to back out or make changes to the contract if required. I think most people just accept this and happily sign away, which is why they don't care, and probably called my bluff when I said I wanted to get a solicitor to review it. Wasn't until I forwarded them an email from my solicitor and said I wouldn't sign until they could review it that they buckled and decided to give me the full contract to review. Re: At contract stage, need help 23Nov 10, 2017 10:53 am We haven't signed a final building contract yet! We are building through Kurmond Homes and they haven't provided us with a Final Building Contract because they are in shortage of HBCF - Home warranty Insurance!!! We have received our CDC approval in SEP 2017 and Unconditional Bank Approval too and Final Construction Plan is ready too with all variations. - KH hasn't started building yet! In the draft copy of contract, it says building work can commence within 20 working days Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Share As they haven't started building work and we haven't signed any contract yet - ARE they still considered as a BREACH of CONTRACT????? You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 16568 Not unless you have managed to put it as a special condition into the contract somehow. 1 6156 The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn. Just the way it is. 1 8711 |
