http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/top-1.jpg So you may have already read previously but this is our new home, designed to fit a small block with odd angles. The backyard is north facing so here in Perth that means the sun rises over the righthand side of the house. We should be able to get alot of natural light coming in. The WIL upstairs is actually going to be used as our study. As I have already posted the bottom floor elsewhere I put it in smaller just so you could get a feel for where it all fits. We will keep you all updated with the process...... Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 3Aug 18, 2008 3:31 pm Nothing here at the moment, hubby has it all at work and I have been getting him to send it by email when he gets a chance.... I am hoping sometime soon he will get a chance. Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 4Aug 18, 2008 3:33 pm btw local papers always advertising enduroshied re those pool windows www.cleansavers.com.au *no idea of quality/work just seen their ad* Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 5Aug 18, 2008 3:52 pm That stuff looks really good it would be interesting to see if anyone has actually used it and its has worked for them....I will be sure to be trying anything that works though. Luckily this is going to be one area that hubby looks after though. We agreed, he looks after the outside and I look after the inside. Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 6Aug 18, 2008 7:07 pm Just had to send letters off to neighbours(one at the back and one at the side) to get approval or their ok's for extra long parapet and the window in our bedroom can see their bathroom window........fingers crossed they are happy. Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 7Aug 19, 2008 11:11 am woah!! love the fact that you can see your pool from from the entrance! very fancyy
Even though you say its for a small block, your house has all the necessary essentials!! love it! congrats Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 8Aug 19, 2008 11:20 am The plan looks great! There's one tiny thing I'd change if it was my house. The hinged door from the kitchen to outside I'd swing the other way. I'm assuming you'd primarily use this as a service door to the bbq area. (the sliding door is main access point to alfresco?)
As it is you'd have to manouver around the door to get to the bench. If it swung the other way it would be much easier to get things from the kitchen to the benches (but you'd use a bit more space swinging in to the alfresco) I guess this depends on how this door will primarily be used. I'm with Newbies, I love the idea of seeing the water as you step into the house! Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Joles correct on all accounts....... About the door we have never had benches in the alfresco before so I am not quite sure how much we will use them and the other thing is the fridge is the first thing in the kitchen along the back wall...so if we hinged it the other way it would block the fridge. We liked the idea of being able to use the fridge in the kitchen as our alfresco fridge aswell seems silly to add another fridge so close together.. What do you think?????? Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 10Aug 19, 2008 1:20 pm Looks great gweluphome. Look forward to the elevation drawings next
You're right friends and family just don't get it unless they're building themselves. That's why I love it here too. Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 11Aug 19, 2008 1:59 pm BEAUTIFUL! good luck with that overlooking problem I know it would be brilliant to keep that window and look out onto the pool, but imagine if that was YOUR bathroom!!
You could always make it smaller, or keep the window the same size but use some batten screening so you cant look down, only out or up. Could also be a nice architectural feature. Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 12Aug 19, 2008 2:08 pm nice design, love a house with lots of storage. Looking forward to the elevation drawings too.
I take it you are building in Gwelup, hence your name? Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 13Aug 19, 2008 2:30 pm Yeah we are building in Gwelup.....original name huh!!!!!.... I couldn't think of anything at the time other than the reason I was looking at this website...very funny.....
Yes there quite a bit of storage space....hubby and I were only just discussing that in the laundry I have to sides of cupboards, overheads on both and a linen right next door.....thats why we decided to put the opening to the underneath of the stairs in the garage... Meeting with neighbours today re the window...I will keep you posted... We liked the idea of being able to use the fridge in the kitchen as our alfresco fridge aswell seems silly to add another fridge so close together.. What do you think?????? I definitely wouldn't add another fridge, the kitchen one will be close enough. With the door I was meaning that it still opens out into the alfresco but swings the other way. Not swinging into the kitchen, still swinging into the alfresco but towards the table rather then towards the benches. Then if you were carrying stuff from the kitchen you could push the door and put it straight onto the outside benches rather than have to push the door closed behind you to access that part of the bench. I'm not very good at explaining things am I? Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Now with the top and bottom design..we are ready for council 15Aug 19, 2008 3:37 pm Now I get it.. that is actually not a bad idea.. have to mention it to hubby....he gets to work out logistics of these things and I get to agree or disagree when its worked out....
This is how it works for us .....I give him the idea... he works out how it will fit into our design... and then he claims it was his idea.... He thinks he is so clever .......and then I change my mind.....and he hates me for ruining his good idea.......I love it!!!!
