Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 31, 2016 7:24 pm Hello, My partner and I deposited on the Tennyson 25 on the weekend! We have our colour selection this weekend, along with upgrades and the facade. Slightly freaking out because our land isn't settling for a year and I'm hoping I dont change my mind in this time. There's only 4 colour palettes (internal and external) to chose from which should make it a bit easier. Anyone else building with Easy Living? Hey Snapey, We went through the easy living process for an investment property within the last 12 months. The color boards are annoying we had to choose from seeing such a small sample. We went with the black caesarstone board was a bit of a mistake we hated the dark colors once we saw them in the house. Carlisle as a whole did in my opinion a very poor job and we had alot of issues which needed to be escalated. It was due to them rushing it etc. But we never had an inspector after the frame which was a mistake. Easy living gives you the basics and can be a good buy if your looking for price over prestige. Carlisle have gotten very busy so just keep on them. Goodluck. We're first home owners so we're happy just getting out of our rental and into our own home! We will definitely be engaging a building inspector to keep on top of them! Re: Carlisle Homes - Easy Living Tennyson 25 5Nov 02, 2016 5:44 am Hi Tennyson is a beautiful house. we are building with easy living first home buyer Peninsula 33 double storey. Personally i paid deposit with 2 major builders went all the way to contact, did not sign the contract on both circumstances because the final price was ridiculous, I was told costs increased due to energy star rating, house orientation, developer requirements and site costs things that i should have been aware of at sales stage. If it was a few thousands would have considered but not tens of thousands was not going to compromise, So we decided to go easy living because of the guaranteed fixed price and we are more than happy with all our additions and upgrades. Of Course the color swatches may be daunting but overally i was happy to compromise a few things and stay within my budget and in this case it was 50k less than what i could have spent with other builders for the same sized house. So good luck and hope you enjoy the process. We've already added in everything we want (air-conditioner, driveway, powerpoints, gas to alfresco, rangehood ducted to outside & extra heater vents in the bathrooms) and we don't feel like we're missing out on anything that other builders include. I'm even happy about choosing from 4 colour schemes because if I had to choose every single item myself I would go crazy! We're thinking of sticking with the color scheme in the Tennyson display but changing the facade. Going to have a look at the other Easy Living displays in Merrifield this Saturday so we can make our decision on the external colour and facade by Sunday! It's all going so quickly but then the next 11 months are going to drag whole we wait for our land to title! Re: Carlisle Homes - Easy Living Tennyson 25 7Nov 02, 2016 11:54 pm Hi Manchestergrove, which inspector would you recommend? It does look like a worthy investment to have your own inspector even though Carlisle is said to have their own independent inspector. Hi Snapey, also went with EasyLiving and getting the Eaglemont and looking to start building early next year. Good luck on your colour selection, dont forget that you may swap an item or two to suit your taste. For example, I chose the Florence theme and swapped the timber flooring from another theme. Oh really? They didn't tell us that! That makes our decision a bit harder! I wanted a dark garage door so picked an external colour theme with one (despite not liking the render as much) so this could work out well! Thanks for letting me know Re: Carlisle Homes - Easy Living Tennyson 25 9Nov 03, 2016 9:53 am delirium211 Hi Manchestergrove, which inspector would you recommend? Hey Delirium everyone we know whom used an inspector recommends Darbecca we went with a cheaper option but probably wouldnt use that bloke again as I found additional items that werent listed on his report after the inspection. Re: Carlisle Homes - Easy Living Tennyson 25 10Nov 05, 2016 10:56 pm Thanks Manchestergrove! Been hearing about Darbecca and New Home Inspections too but wanted to see if there might be cheaper options with the same level of service. Will prolly go with the safer route... Hi Snapey, they can swap though you have to pay 275 per item though! So what we did on our end was to select an option that ticks most boxes and just swapped 1 item. Another hard thing for us was to imagine how the timber upgrades will look! They didnt have anyway to simulate it with the color themes unfortunately. Hope you find the right one for your taste! Re: Carlisle Homes - Easy Living Tennyson 25 11Nov 06, 2016 8:58 pm Hello! Colours and upgrades done - $20k in upgrades. We went with the Arcadia facade in London, and choose the New York palette for our interior. I honestly love how the Easy Living range are mostly standard items - makes it so easy to imagine what our house will really look like when it's built. Our land is due to title in 11 months! I'll be waiting impatiently until then ? Re: Carlisle Homes - Easy Living Tennyson 25 12Feb 21, 2017 10:34 am We are building Tennyson 25 as well. Redmond facade with the London palette and Stockholm interior (with NY palette cat 3 carpets). Construction started November, and we are at lock up stage now. It is going so quickly, I do have some concerns about quality but not much we can do about it at this point. Hoping we will be in by April. How has your experiences been so far? We are still waiting for our land to title. Has been pushed back but expected to settle by December. We added a lot of doors into our plan too. Plus extra tiles in the hallway. Re: Carlisle Homes - Easy Living Tennyson 25 18Sep 05, 2018 5:34 pm Hi I have my colour appointment on Monday.
