Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 06, 2017 7:35 am Hi everyone a previous client has told me about home one. I'm a registered builder and would like to start a forum involving people whose builders have gone into liquidation ,as I know this could be a very stressful time I would like to offer my knowledge on the correct and most efficient way to complete your house and also go through the correct post completion work if you have settled prior to builder going into liquidation Re: Builders in Liquidation 2May 23, 2017 9:22 am Hi there, Yes, it seems this is a very common thing right around the country. We are based in QLD and our builders went into liquidation in November. We are finishing the build through an appointed builder by QBCC and our insurance claim has been approved by them. We will luckily not be out of pocket to complete the house. Our current hurdle at the moment is trying to source all the certificates for the different stages of the build up to this point. The private certifier has been less than helpful and claims that these are all with the builder (who now no longer exists). We've chased the appointed liquidators, but they are only concerned about the $. It seems there is a no clear understanding on who is responsible for the collection of these - which are required by law. Our financial institution requires them as well with the final payment. If we're not able to provide them, we have a fear they will foreclose on the loan. We had chased and chased the builder at each stage for copies of them, but they kept brushing us off and saying we'll get them at the end. (So much for that!) As you are a registered builder, not a certifier, not sure if you are able to help and answer some questions I have. Is it possible to retrospectively get certification on things? We took a million photos of everything throughout the whole process, so we have evidence of the work done. Would someone certify things based on these and walking through the house? We are just not sure where to start looking for these and no one seems to want to assist. QBCC wash their hands of it - they don't want to get involved in this. The certifier doesn't want to assist either and who knows whether he lodged them with anyone else (we will be asking out local council). Appreciate any advice. Thanks, Re: Builders in Liquidation 3Jul 09, 2017 10:08 pm Hi there - just wondering how you went with getting your certificates. I am in QLD too and my builder has just gone into liquidation and I have called the QBCC and my certifier to assist with getting my certificates. I've also tried calling the contractors directly to ask them to release the certificates to me, which they will not do, because I didn't engage them to do the work. No one seems to know what to do and how to assist. How can this be? Builders go into liquidation all the time. I would love to hear how you are going with this, as I am at a loss with where to turn to next. thanks Hi All, We have recently purchased a sloping block (3.5m fall building envelope, 6m overall). Just wondering if you know of any good builders that you would recommend for… 0 13838 Thanks , we decided to go with them now in the process of designing, yes I agree they are super flexible with design and super flexibility with our needs , anyway one… 2 44016 1 22299 ![]() |
