Building in Springlake Mount Barker SA Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build 65Jul 30, 2017 1:03 pm HFBMPC Congrats!! It looks huge Lovely view as well, do you know if Springlake will be building behind you? I went for a bike ride around Springlake the other night - the hills pretty much killed me! But its so peaceful and quiet.. We've got a nature reserve right behind us, which goes along width wise to the end-of-road sign in the first picture and includes the gum trees visible nearby. From the current look, it appears they won't be building up until the single gum tree further back in the first picture (kind of in the middle, where there is a track/fence). So we will get a really beautiful view down and hopefully not be able to see neighbours backs for ages! Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - Slab Down 67Jul 30, 2017 8:06 pm Marshall5858 Whooo super exciting So very exciting! Our SS says we will be getting structual steel and our frame started by the end of the week and I intend to go have a check on site Tuesday and Friday when I have time. Hopefully some more photos for everyone. Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - Slab Down 68Jul 30, 2017 8:18 pm I kinda miss the excitement of it all, I do love being in our home though I look forward to your pics Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - Steel up 69Aug 04, 2017 2:13 pm Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - Steel Up 70Aug 09, 2017 3:03 pm Well after a stressful weekend, things appear to be back on track. Our troubles started Tuesday last week, when we received a text confirmation from the bank that the payment for base stage had all been taken care off. For all we knew all was well. On Friday we ended up getting a phone call from Simonds to check on the payment as they had not received it - which started the while shebang of 'WTF is going on with our bank'. Turns out that due to some after contract variations, the base payment on the original payment schedule had obviously changed. Someone in the processing department of The Bank had stopped the payment at that point - and sent an email to my partner on the Wednesday. However, they sent it to a completely wrong @gmail email address, despite his contact being @hotmail (as he does not have gmail). No one at the bank decided to actually call regarding the payment though to follow up what was going on. Our bank manager was escalating this internally to get it processed through Thursday and Friday, yet nobody had completed it despite that it should have been checked on on the Thursday. However, we couldn't get any of this information as our banker was in meetings throughout the remaining time of Friday. Simonds were wonderful about this all though, and the payment thankfully was resolved after the weekend - but unnecessary stress was horrible!! On Monday we got confirmation that was all fixed, however we then had a new SS assigned to us - but he seems pleasant enough! We shall see how it goes. We've also begun talks to Garden Depot in Mt Barker for landscaping planning and discussion. Anyone had any experience with them?? Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - Framing Started 71Aug 17, 2017 5:15 pm Had a quick site meeting with our new SS Heath - lovely bloke, really friendly, really helpful and seems to really take pride in his work and ensuring things are kept tidy and on track. (Also seems well liked by the trades as a few tradies working next door that will be working on our build later came for a chat, and he booked the day as a clean-up day rather than trades on site given the horrible weather!) Framing is going up well! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ SS already taken care of placing a fix request, so no worries here at all and a rather enjoyable morning speaking with him. Also spoke with a landscaper from The Garden Depot in Mt Barker - not sure their reputation, if anyone has had experience that'd be great! - but he was very friendly and knowledgable and relaxed despite the horrible weather! Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - BRICKS STARTED 73Sep 11, 2017 11:47 am HFBMPC Any progress amongst this horrible weather JM1911A1? Building has been going full steam ahead! Bricks are going up, the windows are almost all in, and roof and framing is all done. The bricks are looking exactly how we were hoping, and I've taken far too many photos of them. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The one bit we're disappointed about is the height of the back door and wish we had made them taller (but not really wider), but that wasn't really feasible with the cost of them given it'd be a custom style sizing. However we're thinking of making the best of it with a shelf above for my cookbooks or some board games possibly. And the view is always beautiful! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We've been talking with a landscaper from The Garden Depot and are getting some drawings done in a few weeks, so we'll see how it goes. We're hoping the whole thing will be beautiful in the end, though it's definitely going to cost to achieve it. The block next door to us on the other side has now sold, so we're interested to find out what will be going up next to us, and we've found out from Simonds that there's going to be another Harcrest on our road down the end, though a bit of a mix-up, altered one so expecting it will be very different to ours. Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - BRICKS STARTED 74Sep 11, 2017 5:23 pm Wowee its all looking amazing. I love the brick colour. Yours is going full steam ahead compared to us. Its so exciting to watch. Our friend literally live across the road from you, they move in this weekend. Do you have a handover date yet? Metricon Glendale 34 Modified They are powering through it despite the few changes with our SS etc. But definitely going full steam ahead. (The workers must all be powered by the extra strength coffee's we keep finding around site! The OH is a coffee addict, so we're all for it!) Oh awesome! There's so many houses going up on our street right now, so I hope our builders and the other's keep the noise down for them a little! Our Handover via the the MySimmonds online tracker is 12th of January, though our SS suggests it's more likely end of Jan/start of Feb more likely. How about you guys? You're bricks been up quick despite the weather. Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - BRICKS STARTED 76Sep 11, 2017 5:31 pm Wow, that's impressive. Love those bricks Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - BRICKS STARTED 77Sep 11, 2017 5:43 pm Marshall5858 Wow, that's impressive. Love those bricks Thank you - we loved them so much seeing them on the display home and then in the sales centre, however we were really concerned that the brick layers might put too many black/blue tinged ones together etc. The placement has been fantastic though, and what we can see behind dags wise has been mostly cleaned up well (there are some clumps that you can see leaning up and looking down, but nothing as bad as some of the other builds I've seen on here!). Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - BRICKS STARTED 79Sep 14, 2017 11:58 am Oninon Is it going to be bricks for upper level as well? If that be the case, is it an upgrade and extra cost or is just standard for Simonds? Bricks for the second/upper level is 100% standard, our facade also has some cladding at the front and on the rear (for design guideline requirements which was switched for no added cost). Simonds standard is bricks except for the facade. Re: Simonds Harcrest - SA Build - LOCK UP 80Oct 20, 2017 9:40 pm LOCK UP a week away! In less exciting news - we had a building inspection notifying us that some bricks had gaps etc, and that more concerning that there wasn't a flap for the join between brick and paneling (which is to keep rain/water out from the brick cavity) and that there were bricks not straight at the back of the house. However the entire external minus the garage tiling has been done so a bit concerning, we'll see how it all goes. Our pergola guy is a bit of a jack-ass and isn't listening to us, but we like our Landscaping guy from Garden Depot - Wayne is lovely and we're just awaiting drawings from the artist for it. And we get to have fun with creating a custom dining table! Just to get our mind off of things. We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing. Thorough reports with photos at every stage,… 6 7146 i would not be signing anything on the day read your contract about when builder submits final invoice generally, have to meet builder within 7 days of receiving final… 1 4748 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17628 |
