There are no bricks upstairs, its only a small section around the door. Metricon Winchester 28- Home Straight 782Aug 06, 2018 1:15 pm I wouldn’t even accept the metal. As much as you think it would be ok. I don’t think it would look great too be honest. It would make it all look out of whack. But In saying that if they made the mistake. I would take it higher up. That’s not good enough. And if something was to change like that along the way. He should have contacted you. That’s not very good practice at all. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Home Straight 783Aug 06, 2018 1:17 pm Essentially they are saying that because the side of the portico is rendered, they have to continue around to the front door. I think thats a load of you know what. I certainly think they should have discussed that with us rather than going ahead and doing it. Trying to get hold of our BSC now. We paid for brick deliberately and I dont think the render should have overridden that without discussion or permission. I'd have rather we removed the render from the build if that was the case. The corner of the render will be exposed and chipped off over time. It will definitely look weird. Are you going to accept the option to have the metal strip, if they can in fact remove the render? I agree, that while it isn't ideal, I would much prefer the metal strip to the full render, if I felt as strongly about the render as you do. It is so hard to pick up everything from looking at the plans - especially when there is no clear notation about what the finish is going to be. Good luck! At least it could be painted to be less obvious. I would never in a million years have chosen grey render around the door if it was going to be rendered. Its dull, I hate it, and its the first thing I'm going to see every time I walk into my dream home. The problem is going to be convincing them to remove it even though its not as per our plans/contracts etc. Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Home Straight 789Aug 06, 2018 1:47 pm blackcat20 shokel1975 blackcat20 Which is why they use a metal cap. That should be an easier job, just scrap off the render and re-render... and then refund you the extra payment for the brick. It’s not good enough. They can’t do something this major without notifying you first. I would go higher up then the BC. I really hope it all works out for you. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Home Straight 794Aug 06, 2018 2:13 pm kks What happens as the rendering technician turns a corner using standard plastic edge. Explains a deal as to why issue has emerged. 1412_preptorendercorners_25.jpg I completely understand the logistics of it but I think it and the alternatives should have been discussed with us rather than someone just deciding the knew best. A better option (to me) would be to render to the corner then cap with a metal strip, probably black to match the window and door frames. Just spoke to our BSC who completely understands and is going to follow up; I've said I would much prefer the above so she's going to see if that can be done. I feel like I'm being unreasonably stubborn but I also don't want to be pushed into something I hate. And she agreed the fact its not on the plans means we arent obliged to accept it. You are absolutely not being 'unreasonably stubborn'.... this is the front of your house - the biggest investment of your life. You have to love it & it has to be right for you. Don't let them push you around.... keep at em! You are already being reasonable by accepting the option of having the strip. You are completely within your rights. Really hope it can be resolved. My poor husband, I don't think he really cared (except for the fact we'd paid extra for the brick) but he can see just how unhappy I am with it. I get very set on having things a certain way and I do not like change. Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Home Straight 797Aug 06, 2018 4:55 pm I think it looks better like this.
