Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 261Mar 19, 2018 8:32 am Finished off the work we needed to do at the block on Saturday (and boy was it hot out in the sun). Fence is fully stained, two coats completed. The weeds have mostly died off since they were mowed but the husband carefully sprayed the entire block with Zero so that should finish it off. Not complaining though. We signed final plans in October so I’ve got no clue why they need another 7 weeks to pull our plans together. I was told it would take two at most and it’s taken them till this week to even investigate where they’re at despite weekly queries from me. We’ll be lucky to be in by Christmas at this rate and there’s no chance in hell im paying penalties for a delayed start. Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 263Mar 21, 2018 7:59 pm Holy cow blackcat that’s not good. It would be worth while to email them now and confirm you will not be charged delay fees for there errors. We did that and it saved out butts first time. Try not to get to disheartened with the delays, it will happen and you will have an amazing first home. Trust me I know how hard it is to stay positive when hit with delays and curve balls. On a bright note I stumbled across you on Instagram yesterday. I was so excited I clapped at my phone like I had escaped the nut house . Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 264Mar 21, 2018 8:16 pm Husband is calling them tomorrow. I’ve told him I want plans by Friday, no excuses. He’s pretty good at that stuff, I’m too soft. Oh now I’ll have to see who you are! Lol. Hopefully you enjoy my feed 😊 Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 265Mar 21, 2018 11:22 pm blackcat20 Husband is calling them tomorrow. Same username as here...but I'd suggest you like wine and food if you want to follow me Hopefully we get some movement today, I really think its absolute crap that it takes 7 weeks to produce final plans when I was told multiple times its a two week process. Why is it not done before settlement? Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 267Mar 22, 2018 8:26 am Ergh they're telling me the engineering report was held up which delayed drafting. Geez the build better be quicker than this abismal admin phase. Geez the build better be quicker than this abismal admin phase. Yeah that's what held us up by the three weeks too. I love wines too. I like Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio wines. Yeah looks like its delayed us 3 to 3.5 weeks. Baffled really but anyway. Tempted to ask them to expedite drafting now, even a week would be better than nothing. More frustrated than anything that there are Home Solutions houses starting but our Freedom is not. I love a good Pinor Noir, not so big on white wine though (unless its Champagne). Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 270Mar 22, 2018 9:24 am It is crap your delay is massive, push back for a speedier drafting phase. I hope you have a really fast approvals process we are still sitting in Council for plumbing and drainage approval . I had a giggle at the food and drinks . Can you believe I don’t drink at all. On the very rare occasion I’ll have a drink with Mr T but it’s maybe twice a year. I do enjoy cooking and love baking. I’m going to start a insta page over the next week and ill follow you then Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 271Mar 22, 2018 9:35 am Tribe7 It is crap your delay is massive, push back for a speedier drafting phase. Gotta wonder why engineering took so long, the block is flat as a tack. Soil tests were done before settlement. I followed another Winchester build on instagram in Melbourne that was done in five months flat, so Im hopeful still, but at this rate we're looking at October. Husband will just have to have a belated 30th. Oh I love cooking/baking too, the kitchen is my happy place. At the moment it drives me nuts as its not our house and most of my bakeware is packed. I cannot wait for our gorgeous new kitchen with its big oven and uncluttered benches. Oh yes, let me know when you have an instragram account set up Save Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 272Mar 22, 2018 9:40 am I agree, try not to get disheartened. Admin phase was so frustrating for us too, every time we finally got plans and variations they would be wrong and on and on it went. With our build we were told we’d be in November last year, then Christmas... Now it won’t even be Easter! We’re seeing the end in sight now but we’ve just had to prioritise patience for a quality build instead of getting in there quickly. Good luck, I hope things take a turn for the better in construction! Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 273Mar 22, 2018 9:43 am It's just been one of those weeks. Husband away for work and meant to be home today, but now Monday. Started treatment for a skin cancer on Monday (BCC fortunately). Focus on Furniture has a VIP sale tonight but I think its still too early to be ordering anything, dont think theyd hold it for that long. Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 274Mar 23, 2018 2:08 pm Apparently we're waiting for a Manager to contact us. It would just be nice if they could expedite our plans now given how long theyve been held up. If we don't hear anything I guess we try again Monday. Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 275Mar 26, 2018 2:21 pm Still twiddling thumbs, apparently should expect a phone call tomorrow. On the positive side, picking up our new entertainment unit after Easter. Just need to find somewhere to store it.... Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 277Mar 26, 2018 2:37 pm Tribe7 You have the patients of a saint blackcat. Bring on that phone call for tomorrow. I do to a point, then you-know-what hits the fan and I crack it (like I did last week). I'm really over it now after being told we would move to the construction phase "before easter" but now plans wont be finalised till next week. Husband is finally home after working away since last weekend, so that will take some pressure off. Thank goodness its a short week this week, I'm already wrecked. Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Pre-construction 278Mar 26, 2018 3:13 pm Feeling your pain... I noticed over the weekend that they didn't move our shower taps away from under shower roses, and got told today it's too late, as our file has moved to construction review...
