Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Metricon Winchester 28 61Jul 29, 2017 7:28 pm I like the front path, gives your house presence D So far every house in my estate (except mine) has gone with the driveway as the front path. I like that my house is going to be a little different. Though its going to cost me a lot. Re: Metricon Winchester 28-Colour Selections 62Jul 30, 2017 9:04 pm Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Colour selections done 63Aug 01, 2017 7:24 pm Made a couple of tweaks to our Studio selections: added the external lock to the laundry, and removed blinds from the WCs and laundry (figure the dogs will just eat them anyway given they sleep in the laundry). Electrical tomorrow! Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Colour selections done 64Aug 03, 2017 8:50 am Got through electrical in under 3 hours. The new powerpoints are a bit ugly so we're still waiting to find out if we can subtitute beforehand, otherwise my husband will change them all over when we move in. We added a few extra, primarily in the kitchen and master, though it was nice that we could pinch from any room and relocate without cost.
Added three downlights to the kitchen and two to the ensuite, as well as a couple of extra light points over the bench for our pendants. Husband will fit all lights after handover, as well as install the fan in the master. Swapped phone point for an extra data point and put that in the study, and added exhaust fans to both bathrooms. A couple of external powerpoints and a junction box on the garage to install lighting later. Upgraded the heating to 6.8* (promotional price) and changed to 2 zones. And had to upgrade the aircon to low profile due to estate requirements. I have a feeling it will end up that we do it post-handover which is a pain, but at least my husband gets the fittings at cost. Save Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Electrical appointment done 67Aug 03, 2017 1:55 pm Having a panic about the colour of the laundry splashback tile. I have two photos of the tile and it looks grey in one and brownish in the other. Not sure it I just leave it, or ask them to swap it to the white in the same tile (all builders range). Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Electrical appointment done 68Aug 18, 2017 1:27 am Currently in the US on our belated honeymoo so not too much happening. M were kind enough to swap our laundry splashback tiles to white tiles. And we've moved our contract appointment up to early September; they found someone to do it on a week night. Found some gorgeous canvas prints here in the States but had to pass them up as it's just too difficult to lug them home, though I'm keeping my eye out for anything small that might look good in the house. Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Electrical appointment done 69Aug 27, 2017 9:19 am Three weeks in the US was a good opportunity to sticky beak at peoples gardens and get some ideas, given our estate requires a US-style open front yard (no front or side fences). Hilariously I noticed that almost every house in the area we stayed (Husband's home town) has the exact same garage door I chose....I wonder if I had noticed them without realising, leading to my choice. Also noticed almost every garden as these beautiful hydrangeas in them. I'm determined to find a local supplier so we can have them in our yard, as they are just stunning. We have a street! So excited to see the gutters are in, and street lights are starting to go in. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also spotted what we think is another Winchester in the estate, though a few streets away from ours. Nice to see one mostly complete in one of the more simple facades as I was worried the Aspire would be a bit boring, but this looks quite good. D Yuh, that facade looks fine to me. So excited to be able to actually see our street, makes it so much more real. They're saying November for titles and I don't reckon theyre wrong. Yeah the facade looks good in better colours; the picture on the M website is terrible. Our portico will be slightly smaller and rendered but the overall colour scheme is very similar, so it was nice to get an idea of how it will look. One thing I did notice today is the awkward placement of the water metres; theyre all smack bang in the middle of the front yards Not sure how to work that in to my landscaping plans.... Re: Metricon Winchester 28- Electrical appointment done 74Sep 02, 2017 7:52 pm aloenyx Mine is in the center of the frontyard too, I want to get one of those cover things. Annoying! I noticed a few people in our estate have put a garden bed around it and somewhat hidden them with plants.... You'd think they would put them more near the side of the block. Just hoping it doesnt end up in line with the front door, as I noticed that is a problem with quite a few houses.
