are you an architect or something?
I need to go back to your landscape&build thread. The landscaping looks so good, bet that would have cost a bomb. lol sorry for reminding you. It just looks so good.

Welllll I guess it depends on what you call costing a bomb. We added it all up not long before we wanted to extend the mortgage for a pool. It shocked us a little. In saying that we've saved heaps by doing as much as we can ourselves. The biggest costs were the concrete (driveway, side path, back patio, then retaining wall footings - each $7k a pop) and the patio roof ($23k) And the retaining wall blocks ($7k apx). And now the pool will be about $35k... Ahh man.. so much money Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 323Aug 17, 2017 12:12 pm Thanks cat_dunc that really helps. Our block is much smaller than yours, but I think we under estimated the landscaping costs :/ Better start watching some DIY videos! Got our weekly SS update: *Painters start on Monday (finally), they'll do 1 coat. *Gyrockers will then return to batch up any imperfections and scratches and complete the kitchen bulkheads *Painters then to return and complete their job Also still waiting to hear back tilers re incorrect drains. They can be done later when floor is done. Its been pointed out to me that there has been way above normal instances of incorrect items or things missed for our build which is most likely due to sekisui contract change over. Oh well, I hate having to do this, but I have the paper trails to prove standard inclusions, signed variations and selection sheets which override the standard. Feeling deflated. Need some KFC. Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 324Aug 17, 2017 12:30 pm the standard inclusion was "Chrome floor waste" tilers installed;
I just don't see how the tilers have a leg to stand on. They obviously went off the Variation selection sheet, but they just missed the square grate upgrade. I don't really understand the difference between square & L shape trim plus upgrade cost was negligible so not too fussed. How's this for a stuff up? Plans have meter box further towards front of building with a gap between meter box and aircon pad. Picked up by the fencer who came to quote. Next door happened to have electricians onsite, they were nice to came over and said the daikin unit should fit without issues with fence return between that and meter box. Just gotta tell SS so there is no nasty surprises. I'm sooo happy you and Joneses are very close to finishing. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81624 Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 330Aug 20, 2017 2:15 pm Our laundry looks the same. We have pretty big tiles, so I think it might even be only one tile on each side of the tub! Looks almost a bit silly! Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 332Aug 20, 2017 6:21 pm Yeah there are tiles under the cabinet but not behind it. They left almost 2 boxes of the laundry tile for us Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 333Aug 22, 2017 6:23 pm Glass splashback is in... Opinions please. Should we feel disappointed? Are these even worth fighting for at PCI? 1. drawings specified glass joints to be evenly distributed. We calculated and adjusted the cupboard configs so that there would be no joint behind stovetop. Got exactly what we didn't want. 2. Do you think colour looks yellow and too different compared to sample shown above? We've never had glass before, so don't know what to expect. From the pic, yes, it does throw a cream rather than the beige/grey at the top. It could just be the reflection. As far as your splashback is concerned, if it's stated in the plans and you are not happy, bring it up with them. I'm trying to decide if it were mine and if i'd get used to it being there in the middle. I cant decide :/ Do you have the sample itself or only the photo of it? It does look a different colour in the photos, but as Coral lake said it could just be the reflection? Maybe take some different angles? Re. other photos. My laundry looks the same, the underwhelming tile splash Annoying about the AC/meter box! Lucky it will still fix! Far out they'd be extending the slab otherwise. Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 336Aug 22, 2017 9:19 pm Yes talk to them if you think its not the right colour for splash back. As for me they have said there will be a joint or two for my counter top. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81624 Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 337Aug 22, 2017 9:28 pm Oh i just realised your splash is a dulux paint colour. Duck into bunnings to get a sample card if you don't already to compare. Also some glass has a green tinge, we were told we needed starphire (?) glass that was clear without the tinge. I wonder if yours has the tinge and its changing the colour a little? But a bit unfair of them not to tell you that if they showed you a sample in the show room without the tinged glass. Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 338Aug 22, 2017 9:54 pm Thanks everyone - reflections wasn't something we thought about. Photo was taken very late in afternoon too. Will have a look earlier in the day next time. Hope it improves If you look at the photo and cover the unpainted bulkhead, and the corner return parts, it does look abit better. Hmm...not exactly doable in real life lol Yes Cat, it's Dulux how did you even know? No actual sample just the photo. We're trying to imagine the colour and joint too... unsure. Found the contract wording. "Provide clear glass (painted) splashback.... ....vertical joints will be provided, evenly spaced to compliment the kitchen aesthetics." Googled clear glass splashbacks, they are different to starphire (low iron) maybe this is why colour is off. Still sucks to have cooking grease in that channel. Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 339Aug 22, 2017 10:00 pm Hog Bristle is a dulux colour If bunnings don't have it then you can order it on the dulux website. Yep ask them to fix the joint as its not evenly spaced. You'll feel so much better about it without there. I wonder if they labeled their studio sample incorrectly :/ I have a bunnings 3mins away though thanks for the suggestion With fixing the joint, I cant see how they can fix without replacing the whole thing. The middle part looks like the full max length and sides must be offcuts. That won't go down well.
