On the topic of ceramics.. I have two Japanese antiques ceramic bowls. These were a gift from Japanese friend, bowls were pass down to her and she has no children to pass it on...and I do treasure these bowls. One of the bowl has a small hairline crack. On occasions I do use it for ikebana flower arrangement. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 183May 31, 2017 5:39 am Haha no we didn't get mugs either! Great progress for you, it's looking good! Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 184May 31, 2017 5:13 pm Yep, we got those (they are actually pretty good - very big!!). Might be a collectors item one day - I figured we were one of the last to get them!! Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 185May 31, 2017 8:10 pm Almost half the tiles laid now. GO THE BLUES Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 186Jun 01, 2017 2:35 pm Missed SS phone call today but still got a voicemail update -Roof installing now and early next week -Other trades to start by end of next week on internal work. Probably electrical rough in. Oh and not sure I updated on here, but sometime last week they cut away a protruding area in the laundry slab set down. Now this should give flush transition from floor boards to tiles. Hope the tilers get the levels to match. I'm about to email SS/electricians about adjusting the island bench light point. And I will be asking electricians to either install light during build or after handover. I want to give them all the specs in one go... but we're unsure how high this light should be suspended from the ceiling. We will have LED down lights as well, but this pendant will be more for task lighting and meals. Is there a rule of thumb to follow here, or any suggestion? TIA Ceiling height 2590mm Island Bench 2612mm Bench height 910mm Light 90x90x2285mm Dual wire suspension 50mm from each end. Cable is 100mm from one end. Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 188Jun 03, 2017 12:06 pm Roof looks almost done, and it hasn't collapsed! These tiles are quite abit heavier than the boral sample I have. Eave boards and more timber delivered. And site cleaned finally! It's much nicer not having a crap load of rubbish out the front. But I forgot to move these spare tiles inside the property... hmm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 189Jun 03, 2017 2:42 pm The roof looks fantastic! Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 191Jun 03, 2017 6:15 pm To be honest, I'm a little bit disappointed that the roofers didn't do exact quarter bond alignment on our tiles. It's not that noticeable until you really look at it though. This is how the display center does them and should of been done. I won't be raising this as a problem, as it'll be impossible to fix wouldn't it? The mrs thinks its fine. What do you guys think? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Sekisui | Burbank - Cedarwood1828 192Jun 04, 2017 7:51 am For anyone reading this or researching in the future on concrete flat tiles with a line down the center, my advice would be to Double check the bonding method and layout and have your builder specify as such in the variation when you do selections. It should be laid in the quarter bonded method as per display and brouchures, and every 2nd row should be vertically aligned e.g row 1,3,5,7 and row 2,4,6,8 are aligned. The reason is to end up with a brick bond effect of many smaller shingle tiles. For us, I think it's too late and also unreasonable to ask for a fix now that they are installed and ridge capping done, so I'll just get over it and move on. I chose Premier Char Grey due to its super flat colour through finish, which would help hide chips and cuts at the valley sections. The Boral equivalent is Linea Charcoal which is also a colour through. Our first choice would have been Prestige which does not have the line down the center however we didn't like the colour of those finishes available at the time so we moved up to a different range. The Prestige Titanium sample we had threw a purplish blue tinge, and Tungsten was a little too dark for us. The concrete base colours were also too light(white) so the differences were!obvious at our valley sections - athough Bristile may change the base colour in the future. The Boral equivalent to Prestige is Vogue, and that range also has the smooth colour through option Charcoal. We found boral had better matching base and finish colours. No, rain hasn't impacted much. They finished roof before the rains started. The roof gave carpenters shelter to mark out and cut stuff. But it did slow them down doing the eaves.
