Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 11, 2016 6:00 pm Doesn't look like there is a recent thread for Hallmark so thought I'd kick start one. For those who have build with them how did you find them? I have done the pre contract stuff with them but it seems that now we are ready to move to final contracts they are really dragging feet which is mucking around with some of the finance sign offs. Anyone else had similar issues? Re: Hallmark Homes 2Jan 12, 2016 6:10 pm I regret building with them. Nothing but a headache. So many mistakes made. Very disappointing. Have to take my complaints now to the Office of Fair Trading. Company not at all interested in listening to me or fixing their mistakes. Re: Hallmark Homes 3Mar 05, 2016 1:34 am We're currently in pre-contract stage which is causing frustration with how long it takes for each round of changes to come back. Initial consult - Oct Initial Tender received, and deposit paid - November Received Draft Preliminary Contract - Late December Christmas Shutdown Met with consultant January 10 - Advised changes to preliminary contract. Told us he'd have it ready in a week Three weeks later, still nothing. Feb 9 - Finally receive preliminary contract and drawings after 1 month. Meet with sales consultant that weekend and advise a few more changes. Three weeks later again still nothing. Very frustrating... We're already committed as we're happy with the floor plan that we've modified. Also, we're currently living in a Hallmark home (in-laws) and are satisfied with their quality. But this contract stage is frustrating... Re: Hallmark Homes 5Mar 12, 2016 4:01 pm So are you up to final contract yet Brisguy79? Our sales consultant is writing up our final pre-contract variation list, should get it to us asap, then we'll pay the $3000 and await final contract too, which he said 2-3weeks for that. Re: Hallmark Homes 6Mar 12, 2016 10:10 pm Hi Icebreaka, I am. And so far so good. Though fortunately I took advice from OlyOly and made my own notes during colour selection. When that came back for sign off it had several errors...some big that would have looked horrid if I hadn't been able to compare. Re: Hallmark Homes 8Mar 14, 2016 2:29 pm I'm not sure. I'd like to...but I'm the sort of guy who hasn't updated his Facebook status in 2 years. Might have a chat with the other half and rope her into doing it. That way you'll see more then a photo of dirt and a finished pic. Re: Hallmark Homes 10Mar 31, 2016 9:20 pm Thanks for starting this thread! My fiancé and I are in the preliminary contract stage with Hallmark Homes and will be putting the holding deposit down on a block of land this weekend! It is all very exciting! Sorry to hear that your sales person is taking a while to get the contracts back to you.
We have chosen to build the Edge 208 but have also made quite a few changes to the plan. Which design did you choose? What details did you take note of during colour selections? My fiancé and I are really keen to follow your progress since you are a little bit ahead of us! I will also start a thread as soon as things kick off a bit more Re: Hallmark Homes 11Mar 31, 2016 9:35 pm In fairness the sales person was great (especially with the endless queries...someones definitely getting a bottle of wine when it's all over...haha), was when it got to head office things became a little painful. I went with the Serene196 with a few small changes (enclosed media room with sound proofing was a must have) and a couple of upgrades. I think you really want to be taking pics of your choices and writing down the names of everything at colours. There were a couple of errors on the final sheet I got back and I was glad I had something to check against. Most of it wouldn't have been devastating if I hadn't picked it up (certainly not like one of the posters above had)....but it would have annoyed me at the end. Kinda like a small scratch in a new car that no-one else notices but you see every time you look at it...haha. If you've got a smallish block and are thinking about a pool down the track make sure you check they have quoted you on upgraded footings, otherwise you can't build within 2.5m of the house, which really will limit your options (or gives you a perfect excuse to skip the maintenance attached to a pool and opt for a spa). Re: Hallmark Homes 12Apr 05, 2016 11:19 pm Congrats on the start date and Good Luck with your build! Still waiting on Final contract to come back, its been 1 week wait so far. Sales consultant said usual is about 3 weeks so its just a waiting game. We've gone with an Edge 217, with a garage extension to bring it up to 230sqm... Re: Hallmark Homes 14Apr 09, 2016 3:24 pm We've just done or colour selection and no problems at all. I was presently surprised by the lack of errors and no 'up sell' at all!! I was definitely electing up sell on tiles and taps etc. just go to your colour appt with pictures and a bit of pre-research otherwise I think it would be extremely overwhelming few hours! Re: Hallmark Homes 17Apr 24, 2016 9:03 am Congrats on the slab!!! Just an update on ours, we're still waiting on our final contract to come through. Its been 4 weeks now Asked the consultant a week ago for an update and he said its definitely coming this week. Guess not.... Re: Hallmark Homes 18May 01, 2016 7:51 pm icebreaka Congrats on the slab!!! Just an update on ours, we're still waiting on our final contract to come through. Its been 4 weeks now Asked the consultant a week ago for an update and he said its definitely coming this week. Guess not.... How frustrating! At this time there really shouldn't be that kind of delay! We had a few delays because of Xmas closures! I'd be asking your sales rep for their managers details to enquire about the hold up. You've been patient enough! Re: Hallmark Homes 19May 06, 2016 8:50 pm Just checking in for an update... Its not been 6 weeks since we signed Authority to Proceed and still no final contract up to now, however we did get contacted last week to book our colour selections and confirmed a booking for next week... March 23 - Signed Authority to Proceed (to final contract) and paid $3000 deposit April 26 - Contacted to book selections - Booking confirmed for Mid-May The wait goes on ... Re: Hallmark Homes 20May 08, 2016 9:42 pm Can't fault the consultant, or the site supervisor (though I have had to chase him to return a call twice). Whatever the black hole that encompasses head office is like, it certainly doesn't seem to be effecting the build. I've got a frame and roof. Electrical starts next week sometime. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 77387 I would never build with Fowler homes.
