Browse Forums Building A New House Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 302Jul 25, 2017 9:07 pm I don't see a reason why they can't re-position your pipe and outlet placement preferences. We had our placements finalised on the day that the subbie plumber was doing markings for all the pipes.. and well before the plaster went up so they could drill all the holes into the frames. They should thank you for trying to sort out these details early rather than late! I hope it works out! They had no problem with me specifying a flat surround around the bath, but tried to tell me the spout would be too short if moved to the end. So I pushed back with measurements (the tub basically takes up the whole side wall), and my SC eventually got approval to raise a VO after signing to have the tapware at the end. Late last week I got amended plans and the tapware is where I want it - but they added a hob to vanity height!!! I politely informed our colour consultant that there was to be no hob... and twice she has come back with if there is no raised hob that the tapware must go in the middle!!! Like seriously?!?! I cannot fathom why it's such an issue, so I'm fighting back with my signed building schedule and emails confirming what was agreed. Waiting for a reply. They also tried to change the tiling behind my toilet to 1m high - when our signed site plans stated tiling up to the window architrave. When I flagged it, I was told I could pay to get it higher -(I don't think so!!!), so I provided a copy of our original signed plans and now it is being changed back! I'm sure they must hate me already.... but I want what I want! I'm a graphic designer so my attention to detail is quite high - god help them when I show up on site with a tape measure and level!!! Hehehe - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 304Jul 25, 2017 11:23 pm Haha you sound like my twin! I'm very detail oriented with a ridiculously straight eye. Not to mention stubborn! Our admin learned to just back down pretty quick . I understand there are tolerances onsite so I'm trying to be reasonable but it's hard! Last night I walked into our kitchen in the dark with only a phone light and instantly saw the pantry handles aren't level 🤦♀️. They're going to have to fix that one! Keep at them! People don't like persistence! Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 305Jul 26, 2017 8:11 am Hahaha Bank.... yep, get those handles levelled! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 306Jul 26, 2017 7:00 pm Absolutely do it though - keep on their back about everything because in the end its your money! And its a decent chunk of change so you might as well go in and ensure its being done correctly Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 307Jul 27, 2017 7:19 am Absolutely Bridget, you should fight for what you really want, this is *your* house! (but I have to ask... what's a hob in regard to a tap/sink?) Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 308Jul 27, 2017 7:51 am scubabe Absolutely Bridget, you should fight for what you really want, this is *your* house! (but I have to ask... what's a hob in regard to a tap/sink?) Thanks Scubabe! It's the raised tiled shelf thingy at the end of the bath - if that makes sense?! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 309Jul 28, 2017 3:43 pm OMFG.... I'm still fighting this bath tapware/ hob battle!!!! Give me strength!!! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 BW I cannot see what their problem is! You haven't started building yet! What a PITA for you. Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 312Jul 31, 2017 1:57 pm I agree Henry... I just cannot fathom why it is such an issue!!! Hubby says it's because the plumber will have less room to fudge things so he will have to use his brain and get the prep right - which he will obviously charge for, so less profit for the builder. Not my problem - I just want what I was promised!!! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 313Jul 31, 2017 4:17 pm Wow I cant believe you are still fighting this battle!!! When I met with the plumber on site he asked where I wanted my bath tap, I wanted mine in the centre so that was easy but he had it originally positioned at the end so bizarre you are fighting this battle!! Keep fighting!! Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 314Aug 03, 2017 11:28 am Latest update.... I can have one or the other! Flat hob with tapware in centre, or raised hob with tapware at end. Will go with the flat hob option and hope the plumber helps us out when we finally start building. Builders and their false promises - aaarrrgggg - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 315Aug 03, 2017 4:03 pm Oh that's sucks BW & hoping yr land is quicker than they are anticipating too Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 316Aug 03, 2017 4:22 pm GRRR!!! Feeling you on builders and false promise!!! Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 317Aug 04, 2017 12:10 am Oh no.. sounds like them being lazy all over it! They could just find a solution if they tried. Hope the plumber does come through for you if the builders don't sort themselves out beforehand! 👿 Follow our first house build here! -> https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86484 Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 318Aug 04, 2017 8:07 pm Oh you are joking BW! How kind are they Not. I just cannot fathom why they can't keep the customer happy. I must say that a flat hob looks a lot more appealing and easier to clean. Just why can't they move the bath up closer to the mixer and spout on the end. Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 319Aug 14, 2017 10:35 am Quick update... civil works are almost complete, and I have been told they are planning on lodging paperwork with council at the end of the month. We are finally getting close to a start date - just as well, the waiting is killing me!!! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast 320Aug 17, 2017 1:30 am OMgosh.. sounds like a terrible wait!
