Need a new front loading washing machine first, haha when you want an old appliance to die but it wont Lol. We go through washing machines so quickly it's ridiculous. We have three kids and a week after bringing each of them home after being born our washing machine died! It's the only time we buy extended warranty I have loved reading your thread by the way - I keep going back to the fairmont threads everytime we reach a different stage (I feel like a stalker!). Your bay window is beautiful! I'm a little jealous Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Build Myponga, SA 27Apr 15, 2017 12:53 pm Hello Bubbles Fam, Im signed up and ready follow along. I love a good S.A build, Ive followed a few and you folks are all so lovely. What did your soil classification end up being? Ours is a E, I spent hours on the phone last week organising the rotten shed slab design as it has to have a dropped beam and piers too (does it ever end?) I really hope you can keep that infinity tile they are so pretty, my fav is the Brighton and the Richmond. Any idea on when you might have a site start? Great idea with your laundry too, Ive opted for the longest bench top I can get, we have 5 kids and I honestly can't fathom the amount of laundry we generate. We were expecting it though so we were a little prepared. The shock for us was when our first report came back siting that our flat block would require a steep drive and deep retaining! No wonder our initial engineering report was so much more expensive - they must have been intending to excavate a pit before building! I am so happy about our laundry (which sounds ridiculous I know ). I really wanted a good sized room that we can use as a mudroom. Eventually we'll get the other side fitted out with more tall cupboards and a locker style area. Our kids live covered in mud - which is great - but that laundry will be my vacuum seal! I really don't see us ever using our front door The Richmond was our next choice - I was so torn! I also really loved the millpond colour Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Build Myponga, SA 29Apr 16, 2017 3:48 pm While the kids are having some quiet time... Our facade: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I love weatherboard but our block has an encumbrance that the house must be 60% masonry. Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Build Myponga, SA 31Apr 17, 2017 7:09 pm shellu Hi! It all sounds really lovely, you have obviously thought a lot about the exterior. Love the first pic of the house! Thanks shellu! My husband might say too much thought we need to hurry up and get it all locked in, the longer they give us, the more I can change my mind (usually to change it straight back again!) We love that first pick - it has been our inspiration. Ours won't look that detailed or amazing (tight budget and volume builder) but we are happy with what we have been able to achieve Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Build Myponga, SA 33Apr 18, 2017 8:39 pm shellu Exactly right. It's hard comparing inspiration pics to the reality of building. But I am sure it will look great! Very true. I keep reminding myself that you see some beautiful builds here on homeone and it's easy to compare and dream. But then my husband reminds me that we just sold our first home (which was about 70 square meters and housed our family of 5) and we have our dream block of land and suddenly... hello perspective! 😃 Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Build Myponga, SA 34Apr 18, 2017 9:03 pm Beautiful inspiration pics bubbles, love the first pic I had that one saved in my Pinterest for ages, the way they have rendered the corbel is stunning, the cladding looks awesome, which kind are you going with?? We had axon last time and this time it will be scyon linea. Oh gosh yes I agree to some stunning builds, there was one custom build in Brisbane that was just dreamy. Actually there are so many, yours will be just perfect as it suits your family and budget. You won't regret the plantation shutters I loved ours and will be going back for more . Have you seen BlueSteels thread?? She is a Adelaide build, her home is stunning she also has a paved driveway like your after. They were forwarding an email from from council regarding our roof. Apparently 'surfmist' is considered too reflective and therefore innapropriate for an inland country town 🤔 Soooo.... looks like we're overhauling the facade colours. I think we could possibly argue the point but to be honest we had been considering shale grey from the beginning so we'll go with that and just reconsider the other colours too. At this stage I think we are moving into the 'pick your battles' zone 😅 Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Build Myponga, SA 37Apr 28, 2017 8:13 pm I guess it is the lightest of the colorbond colours, but still it's not like its galvinised or tin or something. Far out, 5 minutes up the road and you are in a different council area and there are plenty of surfmist roofs here. I hope you come up with something else you like Building a Fairmont Custom in Seaford Meadows Our Build Thread Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Build Myponga, SA 38May 01, 2017 3:00 pm Too reflective?? Are they worried you will dazzle someone coming down the street?? You would think from an energy conservation point of view they would encourage lighter coloured roofs! a quick google shows it might be a widely used council policy! 'The third factor is local government. Many councils have restrictions on how light a colour you can use on a roof. The main reason for this seems to be that the majority of the housing stock already has a dark coloured roof, so new buildings have to blend in to some degree. The lack of foresight is plain to see—if no-one changes the equation, we will be stuck with dark-roofed, thermally inefficient houses for evermore' Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Build Myponga, SA 39May 21, 2017 9:29 pm Thanks MJT and hillbuilder. It is a bit of a strange one. We drove through a new developement in Port Elliot and that is full of surfmist too. So Victor council don't have a problem with it? But oh well. We did like it for the energy efficiency but I had been leaning towards shale grey. So, in the meantime we've just been waiting for council... and waiting. We took the kids on a road trip to qld to for a couple of weeks just after easter, to see ky inlaws. We are staying with mum and grandad (which is NOT fun) while we build. Grandad had a knee reconstruction during the school holidays and we thought we'd better let him come home to a quiet house (if only for a couple of weeks). Once we got back we went up to clipsal and I would definitely recommend it - even though it is optional. They were great and the resulting electrical diagram was a lot clearer than our home drawn one! Re: Fairmont Homes Custom Build Myponga, SA 40May 28, 2017 9:14 pm We have planning approval! Woo-hoo! Almost there... I am the most impatient person ever! We've been out pulling up weeds at the back of the block. Our dog passed away just after Easter We buried him on the block and planted our first fruit tree over him. Since then we (mostly my husband) have been spending time out there pulling weeds. It's so lovely and quiet Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There is a small dent in the greenery Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And one large pile of weeds! I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature.
