Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Hickinbotham Build Northern Adelaide 181Aug 16, 2017 2:51 pm Yes we locked it in to avoide it going up in cost while we build, we just went 3kw (as part of loan) and will add more after 1 year that wd can see our usage as an extea added on system (only bout $300 differences in doing separate/than together) plus 2 separate warranties and we thought if one of them fail or has a problem we have the separate one that still works Re: Hickinbotham Build Northern Adelaide 182Aug 16, 2017 2:56 pm not a bad way of doing it. i had 2 quotes and to go from 5kw to 6.3kw of panels cost $700 but expect to make an extra $350 or so a year approx at just the 16c FIT. if it offsets more usage on days i'm home then i am even further in front Re: Hickinbotham Build Northern Adelaide 185Aug 16, 2017 3:20 pm Mmm origin is just for 1st year..to get people to sign up with them normal going rate is between 6-8c. which meas even if we feed in extra by the time we use power at night we dont just use what we put in for free but we are charged noral rate less the 6/8c per unit for everyone we have imported. At night we have to figure out something cause its not going to be beneficial really. We have to use majority of power in the day. Would havd thought since we pay supply charges and put in extra energy that we can at least use what we have put in without the extra charges they put on(since they did not really made that energy) hope battery price drop soon cause that will be best way to go Re: Hickinbotham Build Northern Adelaide 186Aug 16, 2017 3:29 pm yep which is what i am designing for if at a basic rate of generation with a fit of 8c and not offsetting any usage will take 9 years to pay for itself ( plus another 2 for the extra cost getting it provisioned for and my 25degree roof) thats worse case with a higher fit its halved and offsetting as much of my usage as possible brings the payback period even closer. eventual battery will improve the numbers even more Re: Hickinbotham Build Northern Adelaide 193Aug 18, 2017 4:22 pm got my 3rd builder inspections quote today and they all average about the 2k mark still trying to work out what my friend can keep an eye on, what the builders check and if its worth it in addition to the above Re: Hickinbotham Build Northern Adelaide 195Aug 18, 2017 4:26 pm He said we want to make sure those things thats hidden and a big issue to correct afterwards is looked after. Still questioning the footings bit cause homestart requires an engineer to be present upon doing footings and for it to be signed of by an engineer or they dont pay the builder (builder aware of it) Re: Hickinbotham Build Northern Adelaide 196Aug 18, 2017 4:40 pm that matches up with what i have read are key points I was advised by builder in a phone call that footings do get inspected by the engineer prior to slab to ensure they are compliant and to the spec that he has designed. i was told 2 engineer inspections are conducted - after excavation and after reinorcement preparation. Re: Hickinbotham Build Northern Adelaide 197Aug 18, 2017 11:44 pm well back to trying to sort out solar before build. I was told today that the rules will be changing in october - had read the story but forgotten about it if i get my SEG number and have it applied during the build i will be put in for 10kw system so that i can allow for 5 or 6 kw solar and another 4kw allowance for battery when i decide to add it. Apparently after October it will be limited to 5kw total on single phase due to changes by SAPN. in which case a battery will barely be worth it as will have to split total capacity of 5kw between both. Hi, I'll be starting on my verandah repair soon - replace ledger, rafters, roofing iron, flashing etc. (fascia board already done). My question is about the timber ledger… 0 3318 1 2964 Hi All, see above image.
