Now almost all set for the front yard to be done this saturday - have been given some rocks and thinking of using them to put a bit more soil above that section of stormwater pipe just have to decide now how to do it Have some more rocks to collect and some of them are a bit bigger as well Ground cover will be the Foreover brown mulch that i used in the back yard Either put them along the front which will help retain the mulch from the footpath or Make a small raised rock bed in the corner above the section of pipe that was damaged or use the rocks in the back yard and do a cream coloured retaining wall block along the front set directly adjacent to the sidewalk and only one brick high and then fill behind it https://www.bunnings.com.au/adbri-mason ... k_p3451895 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Hickinbotham Torquay Mod - Post Handover 746Oct 02, 2018 10:39 am The front is just about finished now. think i Just need to add a couple more groundcover plants and hope i dont kill them and get some more of the white marble. 2 shopping bags full from local landscaping place and cost me $2. would hate to think what bunnings would have charged for the same amount still have to do the section behind my side gate - putting my extra pavers down between my existing paving and the garage wall of house next door for my bins etc to go on so getting sand as well by the bag from local landscapers supplier Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Hickinbotham Torquay Mod - Post Handover 747Oct 03, 2018 1:26 pm just had my first pest inspection all good aside from high levels of moisture behind shower walls - but doesnt appear to be in cavity. Re: Hickinbotham Torquay Mod - Post Handover 750Nov 06, 2018 4:02 pm Spent an afternoon at virginia nursury last weekend and made a few changes based on their advise I took out the yukka's before they got established and have put them back in pots Now just have Native Shrubs in the front yard - looking forward to what they will look like when grown Will be doing the same in the back once my pergola is done and am going to move all potted plants along the side of the house to give greenery outside the windows. Once pergola done and back plants ill update some more photos - hopefully within 4 weeks or so Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Hickinbotham Torquay Mod - Post Handover 751Nov 17, 2018 11:53 pm Entilzha Spent an afternoon at virginia nursury last weekend and made a few changes based on their advise I took out the yukka's before they got established and have put them back in pots Now just have Native Shrubs in the front yard - looking forward to what they will look like when grown Will be doing the same in the back once my pergola is done and am going to move all potted plants along the side of the house to give greenery outside the windows. All posts and beams will be surfmist so should contrast well with the woodland grey underside. and 2 opal skylights to probably be positioned above my 2 rear glass doors Photos in 4 weeks once its installed. Re: Hickinbotham Torquay Mod - Rear Verandah done 753Jan 15, 2019 8:12 pm Rear veranda finally done and that's pretty much done Still have a few things left inside - finally started fixing my skirting today and will be doing my touch-up painting just after Easter. Plants in front are going well though there are a couple that im not sure if i will have to replace as they just aren't growing I wont be planting anything in the back till after summer Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It ended up being Surf mist Poles and Beams and Topside of roof (so matches house roofing) Underside of roof is Woodland Grey (was either that or monument) but it does match the fencing so looks good i think Skylights are are well placed and i don't have any real light issues in the rear of the house - but will wait till winter to make final judgement. Will be adding blinds in the 2 rear sections to at least come down 2-3 feet to block out the afternoon sun fully in summer as the late afternoon sun does heat up under the veranda a little bit, but the rear of the house is staying a bit cooler now that it doesn't get much direct sunlight like it used to.
