Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 26, 2017 8:59 pm Hello everyone, Just wanting to ask if anyone has had any experiences dealing with builders who will build close to retaining walls, we have our block for stage 5 and are looking into different builders. Two have said no to building within 1m of the retaining wall.. giving us the option of cutting down our garage by 1.25m. We have driven around the estate and noticed a number of people have built very close or right on retaining walls. Our retaining wall will only be around 300mm! Would be happy for any advice! Thanks Re: cloverlea retaining walls 2Mar 26, 2017 9:28 pm If the builder is responsible for the retaining wall he can ensure that the wall is appropriately designed for the building to be close, If the wall is already there its a different matter and it doesn't surprise me that builders won't build close.
